I have brought my nineteen year old female cat with me to live in our house in Corfu (she is very happy and I couldn't possibly have left her behind).   In the UK she was on 5 mg of Felimazole a day for a thyroid disorder.   Her pills have now run out, I had a nine-month supply.   I am unable to get pills for her here as this medication does not exist in Greece and I am unable to get the pills sent to me from the UK because all the on-line pharmacists ask for a prescription (which I cannot get as the cat, Lily, is here).   Catch 22 or what. Can anyone help or suggest a solution?

There are so many animal lovers on this forum I just hope one of you has a bright idea??

Does your vet know you have moved?
They may issue you a repeat prescription without seeing your cat.
A long shot I know, my cat was also on these.

Yes, she helped me a lot with the journey.   I shall try to get in touch with her again.   Thank you very much for that Angela.   I have already tried to contact her without a response but I shall persevere......I just wondered if there was a Greek equivalent although I doubt it.

When we moved here we left our elderly cat in the care of our daughter who was living in our house in the UK at the time.

Tess, the cat, was then diagnosed with thyroid problems and was prescribed pills which were very expensive in the UK.

We found we could get the exact same pills here, which incidently, are also be prescribed for human treatment. They were also much cheaper from pharmacies here. I can't remember the name of the pills but will try to find out.

It may be worth taking a container to your local pharmacy and see if maybe they have the same drug or can recommend an alternative.

Trisa.

You can buy the pills online for about £25 per 100. You need a vets signature on a form you download and print off, might be worth a shot!!

Pills for a poorly puddy cat.

Trisa, if you can find the name I would be very grateful as I have a friendly pharmacist!   Thank you so much from both me and Lily

You download the prescription, take it to your local vet and get him to sign it after explaining your problems, they're like Doctors, won't let an animal suffer.

Thank you so much - didn't know you could do that and obviously don't want Lily to suffer for one moment let alone one minute. Thank you
