Having been without electric since 9.45am pleased to say at last back on & the wind & rain has died down.
Took a trip to Kanoni & was sad to see the big beautiful fir tree at the cafe at the end of the road has split in half nearly with big branches broken off the main trunk & crashed down.
Looks like that area took a bashing from the storms with several smaller boats half submerged.

Oh what a shame! Such a lovely tree. There are lots more clinging to the cliffside around the headland above the beach at the bottom of the Corfu Holiday Palace hotel. Many of them looked really precarious as it was. I hope they are still there.
I always seem to recall half-submerged boats there though. I thought it was done on purpose for some reason that I can't remember!

Reading this I was thinking wow what a storm you must have had. Then got to thinking about how fondly everyone talks about the landscape which we all know so well etc. But I'm stuck at my desk (I'm a social work manager-you can imagine that's fun!) and I think sheltering from a storm at the fire with my book sounds like heaven.
I hope the weather gets better for you to the point where at least you have your electricity!

This has reminded me of one of the reasons we don't spend all winter in Corfu. It seems so romantic to sit by the fire and read a book but when its day after day it wears a bit thin sometimes.
Sorry to hear about the tree at Kanoni. Did you visit the new Starbucks while you were there?

Graham i would like nothing better than sitting behind your patio door looking at the storm rageing away..(sad i know)...
Remines me of a fishing trip we went on in irland(at Dingle) one year...The trip was off dew to bad weather so we sat in out room reading...In our room we had to big windows...In front of us was the storm rageing away and the window to the left of us was the buityfull weather that was desending apond us...Like the two rooms that you have....But it is nice when you have nothing else better to do....Than weather watch..lol..Chris

It's not day after day! We have a few days like that grouped together and then, just when you think you'll never be walking the dogs in the dry again, we have a spell of fantastic winter weather!
For the last few years it's been nice up until Christmas. Maybe this winter it will be better in the new year.
Just to get the last word in..... do you not have winter in the UK?!!!!!!!
Trisa.

Even the days when it is pretty yukky please don't forget...you are living the dream for us all. I'm hoping I can be in that position in the future but ......fingers crossed.....
