My vet has told me that Advantix is now selling a Spot On treatment for dogs, against sand fly bites, to be used every 2 weeks as a prevention for Leishmania, he has just read about it in his journal so it must be fairly new, they have always done one for fleas and ticks.

I just thought I would mention it in case you can buy it in Corfu.

Hi Angela,

I don't know if it is available yet.  We used to use the scalibor collar, I think there was a spot on version of that.

I don't think it is 100% effective though.  Our dog still picked up Erlichia Canis while we were there from a tick - not that I ever saw one on her.

As this is new it should be more effective than the Scalibor collar, but as you say nothing can be classed as 100% effective, hopefully this spot on treatment will have better results though as  the 'spot on' is very effective as a flea repellant.

Yeah it's available from Deanos Vets on the main road into town - next to the Ford dealer, across the road from Tim, sorry "Wind" <snigger> mobile phone shop.
