Hi Annastacia,what would you like to know about Karousades,?I can only tell you that we have just bought a  house in the village.I do know it's got a hairdressers chemist,policestation.lovely church,a bakers,supermarkets ,butchers,an orchestra.a postoffice,coffee shop/bar and is an all year round village,and I think a bus to Corfu Town three times a day.I think one member at least lives in Karasoudes,and that she is a seamstress and dressmaker,I  think her user name is SLD,I'm sure she will be able to tell you more

Hi Annastacia!

I can't really add much to what Maggie has already said about the village. It is one of the larger villages on the island and as Maggy says has something going on all year round, in fact there are more people around in the winter than summer.

More Info;

There are quite a few expats (English, German and other nationalities) and lots of British girls married to Greeks (as is my case!) although not so many that you would notice a large expat presence in the village.

The "agrotikos" doctor holds sessions twice a week if you have a regular presciption that needs writing .

It's 5 mins by car to Sidari and not much more to Roda, so if you are thinking of employment, it's centrally placed for the two. Kassiopi is also within easy reach (about 20mins) .

Karousades has 4 beaches associated with it; Astrakeri, Agios Yoannis, Yialos and Agnos. Astrakeri now has a small harbour so if you have or are interested in having a boat, moorings can be found there (also lots of people like to fish there although we have never had any success with our bread and cheese bait!!).

In Sidari, there is a KEP centre, which is a bit like Citizens Advice, I have heard that they have a Greek language program going this year.

Can't think of anything else at the moment, so if you have any more specific questions please don't hesitate to ask

Sarah

The bottom picture on  Nigel's photo link is a grill house that belongs to Eliseo (pic on my photos) he's a real character, it doesn't look much but the food is superb. It is the first restaurant on your right as you enter the village fron the direction of Roda.

Hi Annastacia,

Our house renovation in Karousades is almost complete after 4 years and we can't wait to finally move in early in the New Year.

Karousades is great - the best of both worlds - a village which is open all year round with more amenities than could be hoped for.  With Acharavi close by which is also open throughout the year (Supermarkets, restaurants etc.) it offers proximity to larger centres.

For a bit of night life during the summer, Sidari and Roda are both a stones throw away.

The people in Karousades are great - friendly and giving a true village feel.  There is even a Pizza shop which delivers!!

We love it!!
