Hi

I can put you in touch with a couple of people who take in animals if that is what you want?

Or could you let us know if you are looking to set one up?  It will make a difference to the responses you get.

Julia

Are you looking for short term or long term. There are a couple of people who do short term on cages and there are others that will take them long term and let them live a more normal life.

I should also be interested in anyone who will take some cats or kittens off my hands.   I like cats, but people seem to be dumping them on me and twelve is too many; I should like to limit myself to six! Mayday! Mayday!

Hi Ocay,

We could neuter the cats for you which would help in the long term.  You may find it easier to re-home them too if the new owner doesn't have to worry about the patter of tiiny paws - sweet though they are!

Ocay - you will not find anyone to take them off your hands on a permanent basis. I am receiving telephone calls daily asking us to take in cats and kittens because hotels are closing and the season is ending.

It is getting really ridiculous, visitors come here and care for the cats and kittens instead of letting them look after themselves. Placing food in central areas is better than taking them in as their own for such a short time and then they expect us to take them and we have nowhere to put them.

I would also point out ocay that 12 cats is a small number, most of my colleagues who live permanently on the Island and the people we are helping with neutering are feeding 20 plus.

It is a big problem we know and in order to keep the numbers down - why not get some neutered, start with the females and your numbers will then not increase.

Thank you for the neutering advice.   However at 60 euros per cat (should that be purr cat?) it is out of the question.   I must seriously consider drowning as being a more merciful end than to see them starving to death.

Hi,

What Angela and I meant was why not have us (Agni Animal Welfare Fund) neuter at least some of the cats?

If you could make a donation towards it, however small, so much the better.  Or perhaps you would consider (if permissible) having one of our collection boxes in the office?  Many people have a desire to help the strays on Corfu but don't know where to start as we can't afford advertising campaigns.

Its very kind of you to offer.   If the three adult females might be neutered (one has already been seen to)it would certainly help and I could afford a reasonable donation to AAWF.   There are no adult males since Alexander was poisoned.   I shall also consult my musical partner with a view to giving a concert in aid of AAWF if a suitable venue might be found.
