I think Ryanair also fly to Ancona.

However, ferries during the winter months from most Italian ports, apart from Venice which does have a direct route, go via Igoumenitsa then change for the local ferry.  Also there are no ferries from Brindisi to Igoumenitsa after 17th December.

Try www.viamare.com for ferry timetables and bookings.

Cheers

Bill

We have flown Blackpool to Stanstead to Brindisi then the ferry all flights for two people return cost us a total of £140, there were ferries but this was easter time because I remember giving up the flights home and getting a direct flight back to Manchester. The Ferry did not go often so we had to stay overnight in Brindisi.

That's the trouble - it is always so complicated to do the Italian connection, that although it sounds cheap to start with by the time you have added on taxis to and from Italian aiports/ports, plus the inevitable overnight stay, or a cabin on the ferry and then the additional hassle of landing in Igoumenitsa (or - in the case of one of my sons - not being able to get off the ferry until Patras!) the Christmas direct flight ends up looking very attractive! I have booked it for one of my UK based kids, the other two are coming on Olympic because they need to travel closer to Christmas and it is costing a LOT more.

The via Italy solution works if you have loads of time and count it as part of the holiday. For those wanting as much time as possible in Corfu I think it is a non-starter.

We'll be coming into Corfu at Christmas via Venice ferry.  It's not cheap, and it takes 26 hours.  However, we're looking forward to it.  After all, we're flying from the US and a couple of days on a ferry seems ok after a nine hour flight.

Xmas direct flights to Corfu sound a lot simpler than all these other options, what's the point in going here, there and everywhere, specially if you're on a time limit!!  Unless of course you plan on making a holiday of the journey. I'm sure all the other options will work out more expensive when you consider overnight stays, boats, cabins, meals, drinks etc etc....

Personally ,  i think it's important to support the efforts of the locals who are arranging the direct flights !!!  Because we want more of them, don't we??

It is great to arrive to Corfu by boat, try to be up on deck to get a wonderful view of the  Venetian buildings as you arrive. It is a lovely start to the holiday. You must be really looking forward to your holiday.   Where are you staying on Corfu?

Have a great time,

BeeBee

We would have loved to have flown direct from Manchester to Corfu with Olympic but it took too long and was expensive plus car hire, we will enjot travelling up from Athens and as BeeBee says the view coming across is spectacular

Hi

We rang Always Travel last week they told us the xmas flight is definately operating, one only, going out on the 19th returning 3rd Jan. It will be 390 euros return. As it arrives in Gatwick at some ungodly hour we're still checking alternatives as we will be going up to Durham. KLM is ususally the best choice but as everyone else says at this time of the year the cost just keeps getting higher and higher.
