..Hi.ya...Mapman has the ideal map for you...And will P.M in for you if you like...As to directions...His map is very simple to read and you should fine your way fairly easy....But at that time of night you will all be fairly tired..So you need to take your time as the roads will be very dark in places...

Out of Corfu and head for Gouvia..On passing Gouvia you will come to a big trafic light system at Tzavaratika...You need to go stright on from there....(The turning right takes you to Dassia and Ipsos)...Stright on and head for Troumbetas abit further on the roadyou will have to make a right turn to horepiskopi then follow the road all the way to the top and bair of right to take you to Acharavi....Any probs just ask...Chris

Out of the airport (only one way to go) turn right at the junction, follow the road to the sea, Turn left and follow road round keeping sea on your right, past the old fort on right take first right at the end of the cricket green (on the left) again you will see the sea on your right, follow the road past the port, all on your right hand side, you will come to a junction with traffic lights, again turn right onto a dual carriageway, follow this road, you will come to Kontokali, then Gouvia, at the end of the dual  carriageway ( it stops for a short while when you get to Kondokali (when you run out of sea on your right)) you come to the Tzavros Crossing, just a set of traffic lights with a direction to Dassia to the right, GO STRAIGHT ON at this point, signed Paleokastritsa, at the next major junction (no traffic lights) take the right turn signed  either Sidari, Roda or Acharavi, Skripero, (sorry cant be exact.) follow this road  through Skripero, then all the way to Troumpeta, when you start to go down hill, after a couple of snaky bends take the right turn (almost back on yourself) past the quarry, after about 10 minutes you come to a junction whith signs for Acharavi both staight on and also to the left, take the left hand turning, follow this road for about 6-8 minutes when you will see a sign for Roda and Acharavi to the right, just follow this road to the T junction, turn left and immediatly right at the Traffic lights for Acharavi. When you reach Acharavi go right through the town.

This is the route that all the taxis and coaches take as it is the most direct.

I would assume that you have detailed directions to your accomodation from Acharavi. Almiros is to the East of town.

Enjoy your stay.

Bob.

I agree with Seaangler

The hardest part is getting out of town, once you get past the harbour it's quite straight forward and Sidari is sign posted for most of the way. I have a house in Archaravi and have given every road to it a go. The way the coaches and taxis go is the best, but the signs get a bit confusing (Acharavi pointing in several directions and at the next junction missing completely). You might therefore be better heading straight for Sidari until you get to the crossroads, where there is a large supermarket on your right and a pertol station on your left. Roda and Acharavi are sign-posted right, follow that road all the way to the Roda traffic lights, where you go straight across. After about five minutes, depending on how fast you drive, the road gets crowded with shops and tavernas. That's Acharavi. If you continue along this road going straight across at the water fountain (it's not a roundabout so no need to treat it like one). You will then pass the water park on your left (about 200 metres on) and leave Acharavi. Soon after this you should see Almyros signposted on your left.

I hope that doesn't sound too confusing.

Sadly, we always get so lost in and around Corfu town (nope, even your wonderful directions would likely get me lost Bob) that we don't pick up a car at the airport (the only holiday destination where we don't).....perhaps I'm just a terrible navigator lol!!

So basically it costs us extra because we have to arrange taxi transfers as well as arrange for our hire car to be at our accommodation.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.....I need all the help I can get !

The shortest route is Via Spartilla and Episkepsi, (there is an alternative, slightly longer route via Petalia), the fastest route is via Skripero and Platonas.  You can go by Sidari taking a western route, or by Kassiope taking the northeast coast road but these add quite a few miles to the journey.

It's probably easiest turning right out of the airport and picking up the coastal road past the town, but my map does have a comprehensive guide to navigate the one way system if you find you need it, (like for the return journey.)

If you would like a map Holmegirl, the link is below.

If you're going to be driving at you may need a good map.  There aren't many (good ones) available in the shops.

I would be very careful travelling on the Episkepsi road at night, especially if you are unfamiliar with it. It is very steep and twisty. If you do, however,  it is quite a direct route, although eventually you meet a junction that has no signpost. Here you should bare right (however, if you go left you eventually come to another junction where you would go right) and this will bring you out on the Eastern side of Acharavi, where you turn right when you hit the main road.

Don't bother taking the Kassiope route along the East coast, it is a lot longer than it looks on the map and there are a lot of narrow sections on it where you have to guess whether or not anyone is coming the other way! If this happens it's important to remember that if they flash it means that they are coming whether you want them to or not! You should also note that who ever is first to the gap the other vehicle has to give way, that's my experience anyway!

That's why I like a good map Sparklymark. It's clear, comprehensive, concise, and the route leaps out at you.  Takes away any guesswork.
