I do the best of both worlds on Christmas Day - eat lamb with the Greek family and then when they all go to bed at 3.oo for their afternoon snooze I book a table at a British restaurant and party the rest of the day away complete with silly hats and mandarin oranges. Always a great day. I,l be the party coordinator !

We usually eat at The Drop Inn overlooking Ipsos. Fantastic view and a good mixture of people. This year a group are booking Corfu Yacht Club as well. Keep you posted.

The Corfiot friends with whom I share Christmas cook a dinner of roast turkey with all the trimmings, but follow it with cheesecake as being lighter after such a waist-builder. There are usually about fifteen of us and it is a very happy occasion, especially being treated as one of the family. Presents are exchanged and the local wine flows like water!

I forgot to mention that before Christmas dinner I generally sit outside on the verandah with a glass of something, enjoying the warm sunshine. On my first New Year's Day here I was walking down Alexandros Avenue in Town in shorts and shirtsleeves!
Now at eighty I never even dream of a white Christmas!
