You order it from your nearest petrol station, no idea of price as it fluctuates in the same way that petrol prices do.

Hi Julehaven,

It is too late now to order heating oil if you are wanting it to run your hot water during the summer. You can however use the normal car diesel (it's the same thing but it is colourless - they dye the heating oil pink so that they can tell if you've been illegally using it in your car ). It's much more expensive I'm afraid about 99 cents per litre as opposed to 60 cents. The government set the release date for heating oil but it's normally late Sep/October. We forgot to order our oil before the cut off date (late April/May) so we're running our hot water with normal diesel.

Hi SLD, Just picked up on this forum and am puzzled why you can only order from Sept-May and at 60 cents a litre its a lot cheaper than UK.

Yes, you can only buy it in the winter. No idea why. The man in the garage asked me in April if we wanted any more as he was finishing soon. I don't bother as I run my hot water with the immersion heater in the summer as you don't really use much. The cold water comes out of the tap warm enough for showers during summer.

People obviously don't use much in the summer............ so the petrol stations don't supply it.  We always check that we have sufficient fuel in our tank in April to last through the summer.

Thanks Graham & Orchard, I realise now that you don't need it in summer so therefore it is only a winter time delivery. We have such Northerly winds here at the moment that our heating is back on so it would be no good here having winter deliverys only as the tank would have to be as big as the house.
