We also have the AAWF on eBay now so anyone selling there and wanting to support us, can now select us to recieve a percentage of the winning bid.

Yvonne, thanks for offering to raise money for the AAWF on another occassion, that is really kind of you.

Safe journey to Graham and Angela (plus dogs and cats!) who left Corfu today for a well-deserved rest in the UK, lol!

Thanks for that Julia, we arrived last night at about 11.30pm after having delivered two dogs to their new homes and one beautiful little boy cat from the island of Paxos to his new owner.

I have heard today that Paxi the cat has seen the vet and needs medical treatment quite badly. He only has one eye and is having an op to take out the bad one and seal it up, he has also been found to have an infection in his mouth. He is one of the lucky ones he will get the treastment he needs thanks to a very caring lady that found him and got him to the UK.

I have not yet heard about the dogs yet but both appeared to be healthy so hopefully they will not have any furthere problems.

It was quite an experience travelling with two dogs and two cats in a campervan but the animals travelled better than we expected. The cats went all the way without being confined in boxes, they stayed in the van and were quite happy to site with me in the back. Effie at times decided to sit in the front next to Graham and read the map!!!

So glad you all arrived safely!  I bet Paxi's new owner can hardly believe he is hers at last.  It is such a long wait to bring an animal to the UK!  It is a real commitment to undertake something like that.  You are so right, he is a very lucky cat!

I hope all goes well with his operation.

There is another very lucky one here getting spoilt to death and its not by me!!!

You should see what came out of the supermarket for her!!!!

She too has to visit the vet yet as we think she has gingivitis.

Is she settling in ok?  I imagine she would be happy anywhere that you and Graham were.  When I remember how awful she looked when we first saw her with those septic holes along her back and face!  Then she disappeared didn't she and came back with scald marks or something?  She certainly is a lucky cat!

Oscar (our dog from Corfu for those of you who don't know) also has gingivitis and has to have his teeth cleaned.  Not sure I fancy that toothpaste of his - it is a bit meaty!

She is finding everything very strange Julia, she looks at everything in amazement but it is very strange for us seeing Effie here after all this time. I cannot believe that it is the same cat.

She is alot quieter, I will be glad when she can go out. She is an outdoor cat and we are having to keep her in. She likes the conservatory though, gets hot in there a bit like Corfu!!!

She is off to the vet now - will let you know how she gets on.

Just wondering how difficult it is to get some of your animal supplies such as Drontal, Frontline etc? I send parcels of horse related stuff to my friend in Corfu - she bought a horse at the end of last season and on her visit to the UK before Christmas stocked up on all things horse and cat related - I run a saddlery at a major equestrian centre which helps! Seriously considering expanding the business via the internet to Corfu - plus it would be a great excuse to visit more often. Just wish I could persuade our vets and farriers to have a working holiday in Corfu.

Hi

There are pet shops and a vetinary pharmacy that sell many of the major brands of flea/worm treatments.  Drontal you can buy from a normal pharmacy.

There aren't any equine vets on Corfu but there are some farriers.  If you are thinking of expanding your business perhaps you should pop over to the Donkey Sanctuary on your next visit and have a word with Judy as she may have some idea of demand etc.  You may also be able to help her get any medications that she can't get hold of easily.

Talking of medications, a quick plug: remember you can raise money for the AAWF by buying your products via the Petmeds link on our website.

Hi Katy A

Yes as Julia has pointed out. We can easily buy Frontline and Drontal tablets in Corfu from chemists and from vets and pet shops and the prices are less than from UK vets.

We are often asked by supporters of the AAWF if they can bring us anything out and we always ask for Flea treatments and Drontal tablets we can never have too many so if you wanted to donate any to us they would be very welcome and much appreciated. (Can be left with Nathan at Agni Taverna) If purchasing these things do buy from Petmeds from our website shop page as we get commission and their prices are low compared to what UK vets charge.

Regards
Angela
