Hi - we are UK residents but own a house on Corfu.

I have a UK full car licence but not for a motorbike. What are the rules for riding motorbikes in Greece?

Hi Paul

The minimum age limit is 18 and for a 50cc scooter, you can ride on your UK car licence. Anything above this and you need a full motorcycle licence.

As for ownership on Corfu, you can own a small scooter (again 50cc, I think) without a residency permit, but own a bigger machine, a permit is required.

Has anyone tried to do a Greek motorcycle test over here?

Do the Greeks have motorcycle licenses? What happens if you're caught without one?

I get the feeling most Corfiots don't have either a car license or a bike license - how often do you see learner drivers?!?

I've only ever seen one learner in Corfu oaf, you're right! I'm learning myself at the moment, and saw loads of learners in instructors cars when I went to Athens this winter - what a place to learn The roundabouts of North Hertfodshire are terrifying enough for me

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you are allowed to drive as a 'learner' in Greece unless you are with an instructor in a driving school car.   This is why you won't see people learning in private cars.

That's what I meant - how many people live on Corfu, and how many driving school cars have you seen...?

I saw a couple in Corfu Town last year when we met out solicitor one evening - perhaps lessons take place when it is quieter in town?

Otherwise I must say I've never seen one 'out in the sticks'... Hmm!

We see lots of learner drivers when we visit the vets in Kanoni. I can't remember ever going without seeing them.
