When I came back in late October there was much talk of a proper Broadband service coming to the North east of the island.

Has that materialised and if so what speed and how much a month?

I don't know about the North East, but we have it in a remote part of the west coast and obviously Corfu town has it. Contact OTE and they will let you know what the situation is.

The North-West has had it for some time now, I pay about 20euros a month.

I have had it for about 6 months in kentroma and Nathan has it for the same time in Agni and Loustri so it's got to be available in Kalami. It's only a couple of euro more than ISDN and you don't pay for the calls. It's not super fast at 1 meg and sometimes I don't see a lot of differance to the isdn other than downloads. However, Skype does work on it and listening 6o radio 2 is free.

OTE rang us to offer us the service, sent us the modem etc. Once the software was downloaded onto our laptop we rang OTE to get them to enable the service online we were then told it was not possible to have the service on our exchange at the present time! Just now waiting an upgrade of the exchange equipment. zzzzzzzzzzz

Satelite broadband will be available in Arillas at the end of this month I understand.
