Terrible news yes.

The name of the hotel has already been mentioned in the news bulletins.  Unfortunate for the hotel but from the way it's been reported so far, it seems more like a personal tragedy for that family and friends rather than anything to do with the hotel or the island in general [that other terrible event in Crete [?]  recently comes to mind].

I am only hoping that the children did not suffer.

This is truly awful to hear.  Is it possible that they picked the mushrooms themselves? The BBC have suggested this. So tragic whatever the cause.

Two children die in Corfu

Two young British children, Robert Shepherd, 6, and his sister Christianne, 7, have been found dead in their hotel room in Corfu.
Their parents Neil Shepherd and his partner Ruth Beatson have been taken to hospital are are both reported to be in a coma.
A Greek coronor, who is due to conduct a post mortem on the children, has said that he suspects poisoning of some form may be the likely cause of the deaths.
It is understood that the family were discovered by a cleaner in their hotel room in the costal village of Gouvia.
The parents condition is described as serious and they are in an intensive care.
The family, who have not been named, are said to have been on a week's holiday during the mid-term school break.

I have realised that it is not their mother who was with them.... it really does not bear thinking about..........

My heart goes out to her .

My thoughts and prayers are with the mother of these children. This is so terrible!
