Kefalonia

This is one of those things that is discussed fairly regularly and people have always had different points of view.  Some are quite adamant that the tap water is completely undrinkable and others are equally happy to let their children drink it.  We all have to "agree to disagree" on this one.  [:)]

Like Graham says, the taste may vary from village to village but we haven't had any problems from drinking the tap water on any of the Greek islands we have been to.    Of course, we also drink the tap water in the UK so, if we can survive that, we should be OK in most places.  [;)]

Like him, I have tried the water from the hose at the sanctuary and it tasted like nectar.  Mind you, I had just spent a morning in the baking sun shovelling donkey poo, so I would think even the water out of the sterna would have seemed quite appealing!!  [o)][]

Over the years the quality of water in Corfu has changed, for the better.

When I first visited Aghios Gordios 14 years ago it had two water sources. The supply from Sinerades was quiet saline whilst the other side of the village was supplied from Kato Garouna & was very drinkable. Since then the water quality has improved no end.

The mineral content is higher than in the UK but it causes me no problem. Bottled water is so cheap but you have to hump it to your appartment. Buy bottled water for the children but try the local water yourself.

first things first,

the water has a slimming factor.i lost 4 stone in 7 days.only joking.

the mineral content,what?.

if the bore hole is far enough from the sea there is more chance the water is good. in the village's near the centre of the island the water is better than the coastel areas.

must be volcanisaty.

oh yeh 451 post's 3*
