Regarding the new hospital that has remained half built for what seems likes years, it is rumourerd that it has being scrapped as the builders have not complied to the standards required to withstand an earthquake.

Very disappointing as we were all looking forward to having a modern hospital here on Corfu.

Tinkers.

From your first post I think that on reflection your, or the other posters are confusing the way that the Greek system works.

As far as I understand things, the medical care you would receive would be second to none, however the patient is expected to be cared for(not nursed) by his or her family, should family not be around as would be the case for visitors, then this type of care can be hired, arranged by the hospital authorities. And peyed for by either your insurance or yourself.
