Does anyone know where we can find out the fixtures for the cricket matches?

Hi Molly.

There are considerable web pages on the subject of Cricket in Greece, and in particular Corfu. Because of the British influence in Corfu in the 1820s it has flurished somewhat throughout. The first match being between some British group, and the Royal Navy.

I have found a web page that covers cricket in some detail within Corfu that maybe of interest to you. Click on the link below for more information.

www.corfuweb.gr/gb-cricket_clubs.htm

Also if you go to GOOGLE SEARCH, or any other search engine, and type in Corfu Cricket or Cricket +Corfu, there are many other pages to see.

Regards

Molly,

Hi!

You do know that they no longer play cricket on the green opposite the Liston dont you,

It is now played at the marina in Gouvia, or so I have been told, not checked it out personally.

Good luck with the big move, see you in May for a bevy.

bob.

Bob,

I think you might be right, as I am sure last year when we went to Corfu Town they were digging up the Cricket Square, or thats what it looked like anyway,

Hi All.

A new ground at Gouvia Marina has been added to complement the original ground, The Esplanade (Liston) at Corfu Town, which has been reduced in size to accommodate a car park. Cricket is still played there but is generally reserved for Colts matches. Over 100 games are played each year, not only against touring sides but also between the various sides on the island such as Gymnastikos, Ergatikos, Byron and Feax.

Regards.
