Hello All,

We have holidayed on many of the Islands, and having visited Corfu for the first time last year are looking to make a more permanant move and are returning next month to view some properties.

South of the Island is favourite, but would welcome advice.

We have surfed the net but as yet cannot gain much information on building costs i.e Roofs/Rewires/Plumbimg etc....Help

Difficult to say how much things cost without knowing size of roof, types of tiles etc.Even where the house is can make a difference, with delivery charges etc.

New builds start from around 1000 euros a square metre of building.

Have you tried the search facility on the forum? You can check back threads over the last 6 months but you might have to be more specific about your enquiry. These questions come up quite regularly and get lots of useful answers from the helpful people on the site.

Although we can't give recommendations for individual contractors on the open forum, you could ask for the information to be e-mailed to you.

There was a recent thread called 'Building costs' that you might find useful.

like you we are now looking to buy, corfu is so beautiful the down side seems to be the flights to and from britain and the winter rain however we are optimistic we will buy when we return in May we are looking central or the north east but we have car and intend to visit many of the places we have read about not ruling out any area really I have bought a book sunday times buying a property in greece which has been useful. Wish you luck. I will look out for your post on our return to ley you know what we have done.

Thanks for the mail,like yourselves we are also on the island in May looking for the ideal spot,Our preferred area is the south also with an open mind to other areas,If anyone has ideas let us know.

Have you done any research into building material costs etc,although one or to people have given advice we are still struggling for info

Anyway happy hunting it looks like we will all have to move fast the secret is out, Corfu what a place
