Just supposing angie decided to lend out that boat ......!  What are the regulations regarding boat hire and engine size etc?  I was thinking about something that actually gets you to some place rather than just a bit further down the beach!

Hi Mike

Just to confirm your thoughts? It depends upon the flag under which the boat is operated. If it's over 25 (or is it 30?) horsepowerand Greek flagged, you need a sport boat licence to drive a speedboat. If it's on a British flag, the UK rules apply and no licence is required.

Now that only applies if Angie lends you her boat. If she charters it to you, then we are back to the Greek rules. (I'm not sure if you can now charter a British flagged boat in greek waters. There was a law stating that only Greek flagged vesels could be offered for charter, but this "moritorium" was supposed to have been lifted 3 years ago or so, but how it has been implimented, I don't know.)

Martyn
