Is this a necessity in all areas or are there some areas  where they don't carry out a site visit  ?

Hi Wilkie ,

Unfortunately it is a legal part of the build licence application , you are lucky not to have the forestry site visit also .

It used to be only CVorfu town thereabouts, now it's everywhere.

Yeah depending how they feel they dig 2 -5 holes, I got the full five. Strangely found a bone in one after archaeologists left, probably just a rabbit or something but I'm glad the archi.. didn't see it

Not all areas, actually.  Your builder/civil engineer will know where it is necessary.

I was told by archaeologist it was everywhere, but maybe thats 'Greek system' playing a part again. Someone must be able to divulge which areas are on the archaeologists list and which aren't then surely.

The site visit only costs you the fee for the archaeologists taxi cab if needed, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, it costs a proportion or nothing if they are making several local visits. You have to find and pay digger driver, often they will do it for nothing if you subsequently employ them to dig your foundations vothros, etc

Quite right Jaffy, I was trying to avoid the dreaded Estate Agent words.

Hi Sarah (& Susanna)

Perhaps you can assist in telling the good people out here in which areas is a dig necessary and which aren't or otherwise what is the procedure.

As to doing nothing and leaving it to my " efficient estate agents", I'll sit on this one for a while if you don't mind.

Thank you

Ian
