Darren, I agree with all your sentiments!!! I have to say though that I prefer my husband to put a shirt on while we are eating in beachside tavernas but only because I don't want to upset other diners.

While we are having a go about the guys not wearing shirts, what about topless women. I would prefer the women who think it's ok to stutt around family hotels topless to cover up, again it's about being considerate, not everyone is comfortable with that especially if they have children ... and especially if they have a better body than you :)

We live in Greece - not Corfu - the only place for bikinis and swim wear is the beach or by the pool. It makes me feel ill to see people walking around in swimmers, and as for going to eat ANYWHERE without covering up really is the height of bad manners. The Greeks are religious and old-fashioned still in many ways, maybe they don't like to "pick on" people who are half naked (remember nudism is still illegal in Greece, except for certain beaches) but believe me they do comment and they hate to see the bikinis/swimwear/topless men and women anywhere other than the beach.

He's a young lad he's on his holiday, if the owner is happy so be it. If you don't like it and it upsets you sit somewhere else.

sunny days- have to agree, a state of undress is not liked by many Greek people, especially the older ones, and particularly in towns.

Having read all the previous remarks I must say that I agree with the majority who say "cover up please" when off the beach or round the pool. Swimwear is not called "beachwear" for nothing - to be worn on the beach!!!. It is also a matter of respect for the country you are visiting. You can admire - or not - the beautiful (and not so beautiful) people in their beachwear where it should be - on the beach or round the pool. When walking around a town or village or sitting in a bar or restaurant one should be dressed appropriately. I know its hot and you are on holiday but I personally do not want to sit in a bar/restaurant looking at inappropriately dressed people walking by or sitting at the next table and I know there are many people who agree with me. So, please have respect for the locals, yourselves and other visitors and dress appropriately for wherever you are at the time. Rant over!!!

Have to say Kathy not in the Hotel but in a Taverna on a beach.

The Lady who was 40+ in age and maybe around the hips walked through the Taverna stark naked. All she held was a small purse in front of her bottom part

Certainly turned me of my Greek Salad and hubbie went a bit green around the Gills as well.
