This is hopefully only a localised problem! (My daughter) She is prone to ear infections and picked one up two years ago in San Steph (she spent most of the daylight hours in the pool) and we nearly couldn't fly home. Last year she picked up ANOTHER one. BUT we'd taken some antibiotics "just in case". Our family doctor was very understanding and prescribed them before we left. This meant that when she complained of earache we didn't have to make the suicidal drive in the back of the doctors car to Sidari and then get a taxi back just to pick up some tablets.

A chemist in San Steph could be a nice business venture for any entrepreneurs out there.

In the meantime, take your own medication.

And if someone HAS opened a chemist there in the meantime then... I feel a real twonk.

No we still don`t have a pharmacy but Doc. Yannis & co are very good they will take the prescription to Sidari for you and bring back the med.  He is also the doctor in Sidari they split the day between surgeries . Maybe next year we will have a pharmacy .

that's really good advice to get your doctor to prescribe something before you travel. not all doctors are helpful that way but our doctor did the same for us when my son had grommits. it can ruin your holiday when the little ones pick up these things and they do seem to be rife in swimming pools especially abroad.

We had a simular problem on holiday in Cyprus one year. A feoow tourist told us that her children were prone to ear probbies (due to swimmingpool activities) and her nose throat ear specialist advised to to take baby salt nasal sprray and have them apply it twice daily (on  rising and on going to bed) to keep the "tubes"clear. We have taken it along with us ever (and yes they are 18 and 19)  since and touchwood, they have never had a problem! Maybe a good precaution so you keep any infection at bay!

I can remember when it was only possible to buy olive oil  in tiny little bottles from the chemist shop!  It was only when Delia Smith started extolling its virtues that it became easily available everywhere!
