In todays (28/9/11) local paper, The Eastern Daily Press, I read that Thomson are not flying to Corfu from Norwich in 2012 due to the 100% increase in the Airport Development Fee (A D F) It was £3 when introduced to pay for airport improvements and it increased to £5 after a couple of years. In 2012 it will increase to £10. In 2007 there were 700,000 passengers compared to 440,000 now    I think Norwich needs a man like Eddie Stobart who is transforming Southend Airport with no A D F     R I P Norwich?

We met Eddie and his wife about ten years ago in a bar in Tenerife or was it Fuerteventura?
I remind my hubby every time we see one of his fleet of lorries on a motorway---of course he doesn't remember, well he wouldn't as there was no show about Eddie--he was just having a holiday, when we asked or what I asked what he did for a living ''He said he was in Haulage''the penny then dropped for me, but no big deal to him

Hi Canarydave
Should have said it was on the EDP24 website
If you scroll through the many comments you will find one about Thomson leaving Norwich. As the A D F was only announced yesterday it seems a very quick response from Thomson

Anyway I meant Eddie Stobart the company not the man, I realise Eddie Stobart is no longer with us but the company is very much alive

Still able to book from Norwich to Corfu on their website, they are highlighting the extra charge though still at £5.00
Have looked in the e.d.p. today and can't see any article, but maybe just missed it.
I am going to phone them tomorrow just to see what they have to say on the matter.
It is of course not just Corfu they fly to, I don't think the airport could/would survive without Thomsons.

I see the comment you mention, possibly a bit wide of the mark as I thought they do not sell Thomson flights in Thomas Cook shops!!

You can buy a Thomson, easyjet etc flight in a TC shop or on line, they make money on it. Try their website and see!
