Kimbo,

There has been many a time I have spent on Vidos island enjoying a cool beer and watched the sea gulls. They are no different from those at home, always looking out for an easy meal.

I gather that the area around Lake Korrison on the west coast of the island is great for bird life with all the wet lands.

Yammas,  Colin.

There is a young seagull at krouzeri beach(Nissaki hotel is at the other end of it) that gets fed by the taverna owner..It just flys around from the beach to the rocks....But they do not squill like they do in England i have notice....Chris

Hi Kimbo

There are seagulls around the NW coast but not in the numbers we are used to seeing in UK.
Personally I have always been disappointed at the numbers and shyness of wild birds in Corfu. In the opinion of an ex-pat bird enthusiast living in the area this is due to the "hobby" of shooting everything which flies, either small or large.
Apart from the common sparrows, goldfinches, robins, stonechats, flycatchers etc I have been delighted to hear many nightingales singing in the trees near Agios Georgios.
A friend who spends a lot of time in his olive groves tells me that Golden Orioles and Hoopoes are often seen around. On my holiday in May I saw several pairs of conspicuous Woodchat Shrikes which were obviously nesting nearby.
Possibly the island referred to is Kravia, a small rocky island off Arillas.

For a couple of years I have been trying to assemble some notes and photos for a Nature Corner to add to my Agios Georgios web-site but it is difficult as I only visit for the usual 2 weeks holiday most years. I am not a trained naturalist and do not wish to post duff information so am struggling.
If any bird, flower, butterfly etc enthusiast has useful information or photos I shall be pleased to hear from you.

Hi Its Brenda

I think the birds you are talking about are house martins there were loads of nest at the Romanza in June when we were there and a lot of the chicks were just leaving the nests
