Hi folks,

I'm new to this board. Greetings.

I've been to SS before and travelled to the Athina hotel with Thomson. Apart from First Choice, are there any other tour operatores that do deals to San Stefanos?

Thanks,

Wayne

Hiya Wayne, have you ever considered going independant?? Choose your flight times, days and airport and have a much better choice of accomodation??

Hiya Wayne I have gone with a number of tour operators, I beleive that Tereza's are with Portland direct (Although I think this is part if the TUI(Thomsons) group), also Kapetanios is with Thomas cook.

The tour operators do cost more than going independant, except with the situation my family are in. I would go to San Stefanos every year self catering but as there is just my wife and I and one child the costs are prohibitive due to the flight costs. Every year I have looked and every year it is the same, I can book a half board option with the tour operators for only a small amount more than the diy self catering option.

This appears to be a favoutite topic on these boards - the cost of flights to Corfu - the cheapest I have seen for the summer holidays is £890 for the three of us and by the time you add food and accommodation you are looking at nearly £2000. It's time somebody got the cost of flights down , although I realise it's the age old nugget of supply and demand.

All the best.

Tony.

Tony - I've been checking the costs of flights as we're considering an independant trip to San Stef this year and ThomsonFly are quoting £139 return in July/August from Birmingham or £129 from East Midlands.

Take a look at:

Have you tried EXCEL  for your flights we have booked ours going out on Friday and coming back on Sunday making our holiday 18 days in June it is only £327 for 2. We booked our accommodation at Nondas for E440 for 2 weeks

We have booked a car for two weeks and a luxury hotel in corfu town for two nights with the money we saved compared to a thompsons holiday.

Good luck xx

Hi

I feel for you Tony.  You have a child to take on holiday, therefore you are probably looking at going in the school holidays when the price of flights are really inflated to other times in the year.  We dont take our kids anymore (all grown up now) but still have to travel in school holidays because my husband is on "shut down" weeks which are always in school holidays.  We were offered a "cheap" appartment in Tenerife (anything to get away!!!) but by the time we added the flights (at the May half term week this was) the cost was outragous.  We have though just got a really goo deal with Thompsons to Corfu, and yes I admit it is half board,  Apparently Thompsons are having money off weekends at the moment and if you book before midnight on Monday they are knocking money off.  This is what we did and the price did rise again on the Monday so I think it is genuine - it might help bring the cost down a little. I know when everyone tells you that they have got really cheap deals on flights, etc but they are not looking at travelling in the school holidays and it doesnt seen fair. I do think that something should be done about this, with the travel agents inflating prices at school holiday times. Sorry to go on but it is a pet annoyance of mine.
