I have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Sidari, Corfu. It's been over 10 years since I was last there, and there have been many changes. Mainly the toilets! I love Greece, the atmosphere, the food, weather and the local people. It was sad to see that many apartment were not yet open, I asked a local taverna owner, and he told me that the big companies ie. Thomas Cook and Thomsons were only giving owners a 3 month contract this year, July to Sept. The recession I guess, but maybe the fall of Kosmar, and the greed of the other surviving companies bought into contracts that they cannot keep. On the whole, Sidari has something for everyone, we stayed just outside the main resort in Peroulades. Beaufiful and quiet.

I have to agree with you about the loos. When I first came here in 1969 they were pretty dire and very smelly. I don't think that can be said now?? Also the whole drainage system has been sorted. The smells were unbelievable in those days and the rats in Corfu town during the winter had to be seen to be believed!! Behind our flat on Kapodistriou we used to see rats the size of small dogs slithering in and out of drains in and around "The Saint" - not nice at all when accompanied by very small children

Was interested in what was said on an earlier post about 3 month contracts does anyone...i.e. orchard know if this is the case and could this be why I cannot find a holiday.
