Hi Michelle, I have just returned from Roda with my husband, we had a fantastic time, I am sure you will be ok on your own and not bothered by unwanted attention, everywhere is really friendly, and if I went on my own I wouldnt feel out of place or uncomfortable, we have been coming to Roda for 3 years and have never seen any trouble. where are you staying?

Hi Michelle. I holidayed on my own (in Ipsos) a few times before moving to Sidari to live and work ... I always felt safe (and still do).
I have been into Roda a few times and it has some nice bars and restaurants. If you feel a bit daunted you can always pop into the Bulldog - I did and they seemed a friendly bunch.
If you make it to Sidari feel free to pop into the Lagoon and say hello.

Hi,
I have stayed in Roda about 5 times and always feel as if I have arrived home! I have been to quite a few different countries and Roda is certainly the one I always want to return to. You should have no problems as the locals and the tourists who tend to be repeat guests are brill. Enjoy and update us when you return home.

thank you all very much for your replies, i really appreciate the time you have all taken and the places you have told me about. im really looking forward to my holiday now. im going out on the 12 sep and come back to the very wet and windy isle of man on the 27 sep. im staying at the Kosmas apts in Roda, and am looking forward to lovely food, swimming in the sea and of course a few drinks to unwind,( i have a very hetic lifestyle, my daughter and her 4 month old baby live with me and it gets quite noisy at times), i also would like to try out the horseriding and i heard that Costas horse riding in Roda is excellent, has anybody been? once again thank you all very much.

I went to Roda on my own in August 2006 for two weeks and I had a blast (I was 31 at the time). The locals and the holiday makers are great and will make the holiday for you. I just found that of an evening, when you are getting ready it can be a bit lonely without the banter of your travellees.
I often went into Sidari during the day and of an evening went from the British Bulldog and the Drunken Sailor. Both of these place are on the main drag of the village. There is always the Pirates Bar on the seafront for some entertainment.
Have fun, and you WILL have a great time.
xx

Don't worry, somebody will soon "adopt" you. Seen it loads of times before and single people (both sexes) always get asked to join in so don't be frightened to mix. My Mum used to say jokingly that she didn't pick the dark brown ones cos they were nearly ready for home. She was 65 when the Big C took her but she'd been away on her own for up to a month at a time for 6 years after Dad died.
