I'm sure between us we use all the methods. At the moment the exchange rate is better in Corfu than here so that may lead you to taking travellers cheques or your card (beware charges unless you bank with Nationwide).

Have a great holiday in the heatwave. Use a safe deposit box when you arrive.

I always just take euros and a card for top-ups. If the exchange rate is low just now then I would take enough euros for a couple of days until you get your bearings and then change some sterling into euros.

we always take a few euros for the early esentials and change up sterling when we are out there, you always seem to get much more for your money that way and also you just change up what you need.

We take some euros but the rest in travellers cheques.

You have to pay a small amount to exchange the cheques but its only a couple of euros.

Also use a safe deposit box for money/passports etc.

Enjoy your hols!!

hey just been reading this topic...I'm going next friday and taking just over 500 pounds for myself for two weeks, so do you think it's best for me to take the majority of it in sterling cash then exchange it over in corfu? Or just take my card with me instead and have all my money on my card?

We have tried all different ways and they all seem to work out the same, you get slightly less for sterling here but commision free, in Corfu you pay 2% commision. The best thing is to do what you feel best and enjoy your holiday

we've just opened a nationwide flex account, its free to withdraw abroad with them!!

So we will be taking about £50 in euros then going to the ATM at a later point.
