The topic seems to have wandered a bit from where it started as usual.

Here is a nice link to the official Kapodistriou Airport Website. Look at the pictures, it almost looks normal!

It doesn't look very OT to me.  But maybe that's just me missing out on something.  Everyone is still discussing airports AND mostly Corfu Airport.

That's what the topic was about originally.

Anyone on the 7:20am flight from Liverpool on the 14th of July?

Dreading the flight as its first time flying and dreading the airport at Corfu judging from eveyones comments!

Believe the coach transfer to Sidari is bad too :S

Hi ScouseMick,

Not going on your flight but don't dread going on a plane before you have had the experience.  It is ok, not brilliant but don't make yourself scared before you start.  I go to my Doctor and he gives me Diazepam 2mg because I am an aerophobe.  The tablets just enable me to get on the plane, for me it is a means to an end.  Just do not end up like me, it is not nice, as my husband always says "there's nothing not to enjoy".

Regards, Pegasus.

Pegasus,

My boyfriend is the same.  He can't get on the plane without the diazepam.

This is the first time we've flown together, so I just hope that I can keep him as calm as possible.

Thankfully the tablets make him sleep, throughout the flight, so he can sleep & I'll just sit & watch the in-flight movie and have a couple glasses of wine.

Jacks

We get thru the airport in a few minutes.  We never have to wait for our luggage - but - that's because we don't take any suitcases - just hand luggage!!!   Sorted.

Just be very careful this year guys......even the "regular" charter airlines have been instructed to clamp down on any outsize or overweight hand luggage (best friend works on check in at Glasgow airport, and warned me that they are also on commission for charging for excess these days)

Hi,

I personally think it is disgusting some of the bags that people take on to planes and class them as hand luggage.  On an international route I can understand it, because you pick up things in foreign countries that are breakable that you do not want going in your luggage.  I am talking about two weeks in the sun in Corfu, no-one needs that much hand luggage.  Some people take small trolley cases and expect to get on as hand luggage.  The airlines should all have strict rules and adhere to them.  So they should charge excess weight, it would stop everyone.

Regards, Pegasus.

Crowmail, every airport has its good days and bad days. Monday is one of the days when it is very busy during the season. More aircraft arriving from all over the place. When you are down, just take things easy, relax. Come through to arrivals, go outside and have a cigarette, or fresh air, get the smell of Corfu. When you are ready, and evey one else has got their luggage, you can go back and get yours. Grab your luggage, find your rep if you have one, get your coach and gone.

Why get yourself all worked up because everyone else wants to rush around. Enjoy your holiday, your coach will not go without you, etc, etc.

Have a great holiday

Yeia mas, Chris.

well guys i went to zakynthos last year so the airport at corfu CANNOT be as bad as there. was unbelievable although i believe it is slightly better since they opened the new arrivals lounge. unfortunately we went before it was opened.

am a little confused about a couple of things though.

you keep going on about bottles in your luggage. am i right in thinking this only refers to alcohol?

any hints or tips for surviving the airport? i know in zakynthos last year on the way home we checked the bags in then went and sat outside for 1hr 1/2 before we attempted to get into departures. worked out well because by the time we got through the queue to departures (was about 40 mins in the queue) we only waited 20 mins in the departures lounge before the flight was called. anything similar recommened for corfu?

also on average how long does the coach to sidari take? have heard lots of different reports on this. is it best to ask the rep on the day how many stop offs there are before sidari.

have heard its about an hour if they go direct to sidari and thats the first resort on the list, but can be upwards of 2 hours if they start going to other resorts first.

thanks guys!
