I am planning to head over to Paxos for our honeymoon in June, does anyone have any accomodation recommendations? I'm looking for something reasonably secluded and private, and was hoping for something less than a grand for upto 14 days (just the accomodation) but could pay more for something really nice.

At the moment, I've been looking at the Villa Aquamarine and Villa Maltezos- but this is by chance as much as anything else, so other suggestions very welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Middler

As you've probably found out already, seclusion doesn't come cheap on Paxos

Planos have some nice properties that are probably within your price range and worth looking at http://www.planos.co.uk/  Or if you want to splash out a bit more, Greek Islands Club have some really nice places and their service is excellent.  Two of their places which I've stayed in are House of Athena - VERY secluded - and Daphne Villas, which is a pair of villas, far enough apart from each other to be fairly private, but far enough from anything else to be really secluded.

CV Travel also have some really nice properties that I'd put in the honeymoon class.  I've never stayed at any of them myself, but I do know that CV are a very long-established company with an excellent reputation, so I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending them.

Hope this helps and congratulations on your forthcoming marriage

Elaine

Thanks both Elaine and Simon, I might try to give Greek Islands club a call this morning and see what they offer. I look forward to your recommendations Simon.

By the way, for any other posters- I am not fussed about having a pool- think it's probably outside the budget!

The perfect choice would be:

- Agni Travel Corfu
Spiros Jetty House
Loggos, Paxos
Sleeps 2-4
The Jetty House occupies one of the most unique positions in Loggos - on a jetty! With views of the whole harbour from the front and seaviews to the rear!

Hello Middler - yes you are probably right - and you are unkikely to get a pool for your budget - but just in case you have not seen these - here are the likns for most of the Paxos properties featured by Agni travel - ( I thnk I have most of them ) -

If you would like a pool but dont mind a little sharing then may I suggest that this accomodation is lovelly - www.ionianislandholidays.com -  go to Paxos Properties - Margarita's on the site -OK its not a villa,  they are appartments - but may be nearer your budget - and you will feel very private there - I have been 4 times and most of the times of the day there are not many others around -   its very nice indeed - suite 4 and the penthouse are particuarly reccomended.

Any others I come up with I will add to this list.

We stayed in maltezos years ago probably ten, considering it is so close to loggos it is very private, you are not overlooked at all. Maria the owner sometimes stays in a little leanto just below your bit of the property, but you really don't notice her.  Planos's elefteria is very private tho a little old fashioned. It has a lovely large garden with lots of different sitting out areas and trees suitable to swing two hammocks (we take our own). There is also a sea view and it is a short walk for a morning swim, (kipos is deserted in the mornings).  You get a car thrown in tho' the village is walkable for your evening meals.  if you're looking for something fab, hip and trendy, forget it, but if you want something greek that is lovingly cared for by the owners i can recommend it, (if you don't mind small bathrooms).  Nicholletta greek islands was also good and fantastic value for money but they've put in a swimming pool and the price has gone up accordingly.  you could also consider their marmari villa fantastic position but does have a foot path next to it

I've just thought of another property that might suit you - Planos's Prokopis.  Although it looks as though it's right next door to Tula on the photos, it's actually set behind and above it on the hillside, so its terraces and garden are quite private.  It's also a fab location, being just a few steps down to the beach and only 5 minutes' walk into the village of Loggos, so no need for a pool or car hire.

Hello again Middler - I too have just had a thought - Go mad ! Blow your budget !  -  this property is over your suggested limit - but simply out of this world for a honeymoon in paradise !

Rob Peter and Pay Paul - make a few cut backs on other things -  sell the cat - sell anything - sell everything ! - bettter still auction off your Granny  -  but just GO THERE - if its not already been taken that is   (Oh by the way - the house is owned by the MD of the company GIC )

You wont regret a second of it !!!

Thank you everyone for your recommendations, I really appreciate it. Much as I would like to go with Simon's suggestion of blowing it all and going to Petritis I think at 3 grand for the two of us for a week, is just too much for me (on top of the money already being spent on the wedding), which I know makes me sound like a grumpy un-romantic!

At the moment, I am talking with "travel al a carte" about a couple of their places (Maltzos remains in the frame), because they seem to be very flexible about number of days and flights etc. Has anyone else used them?  So far they seem good.
