Hi all

we have just come back from 2 glorious weeks at Kalami, we had the pleasure of meeting Nathan 3 times as we dined at Taverna Agni.  It is quite amazing how he finds time to give personal attention to each and every table!.

We enjoyed 3 seriously good meals, including one deliciously long, decadent, 3 courses + wine lunch (we only went for a sandwich!) after which we had the additional pleasure of a good long chat with Jan who happened to be there at the same time.  Thanks Jan.

Alas, next year seems SO  far away...., Deedee

I met Nathan last September. I had booked to go from Kassiopi by Christos' boat to attend Phils feast but the weather was atrocious, wind and rain, so poor old Christos had to cancel. We went the next day when the weather had abated but only stayed at Agni for one hour as the majority on the trip wanted to go to Nissaki( don't ask me why).

Christos always ties up at the other Taverna, which I believe cannot be named on this site, so I had to slide away to get over to Nathans place for a swift drink before heading down to Nissaki. I ordered my Mythos and sat down admiring the view and Nathan appeared with Aphrodite in his arms. I had a quick chat with him explaining why we couldn't stay to eat and about the previous days bad weather. He wasn't very busy as it was quite early and he asked me to have another beer but I couldn't take him up on the offer as Christo was blowing his whistle summoning us back to his boat.

I shall be going to Kassiopi at the end of August for a month so I will definitely be eating at Taverna Agni some time or other. I don't drive so it will be by boat, bus or taxi.

 All the best..Alecko..

p.s. I have nothing against Nissaki by the way.

Bus, boat or taxi all are good and you're sure of a warm welcome.

Hi,

If you have read any other links you will have seen that Deedee and ourselves were in Kalami over the same 2 week period. We spent many days and at least three evening meals at the Taverna Agni.

Nathan (and indeed all of the family ) makes you most welcome. For once you will find someone who is not trying to push the most expensive of meals at you, will advise on all you are about to eat and even suggest something smaller if he thinks you are over ordering!

If Nathan has ever upset anyone it is only their envy of what he has achieved for the Taverna Agni and the local community. You cannot help but like the guy!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments - they have made my evening.

It is often very difficult for me when serving to spend time at every table and keep everyone happy. Sometimes things go wrong and it is sad that some 'judge' us on only one visit.

I love the Taverna and the people I meet, and will continue to strive to make it the highlight of your holidays.

Nathan and the team.

Nathan,

Unfortunately, most people do judge on first impressions.

If I think back to last year............LOL

Hi everyone.  I hope Nathan reads this!!  Yes - we know Nathan, and Eleni, and Aphrodite, and all the guys at Agni.  We have been holidaying at Agni for several years now, and always get the same attentive and superb service.  We spent a week this year 30th May to 7th June -  when the heavens opened, and Corfu closed - except for Taverna Agni, which seemed to get even more custom!  It was most noticable, and even a bit embarrassing, that whilst Taverna Agnis was full - every night, and most Lunch-times, the other two adjacent tavernas were barely ticking over!!

We stayed in one of Agni Travel's villas this year - Korina's Cottage - wowwwwwwwww !!!!  A fantastic, comfotable, clean, inexpensive venue, which we will use again next year.  We recommend it highly.  Korina herself visited us one day, to give us some of her son's birthday cake - typical Greek hospitality.

Coming back to the "subject" - Nathan - just to make him squirm!! - Everyone, but everyone, whoever they are, get the same attention at Taverna Agni.  You are always made to feel "special" - even if Royalty is dining on the next table!  (And they do, don't they Nathan!!)

Enough of this - Nathan - send your cheque to the usual address!

Hi Ritchie,

We were also at Agni at that time, have stayed  there for years and know Nathan and the other Taverna owners very well. Yes Agni was busy but I do beg to differ with the 'barely ticking over' of the other tavernas, Toulas is always a bit slacker than the others as it is favoured by the locals, but Nikolas was just as busy as Agni.We dined at Agni on the Thursday as Periclis had his greek night [went to his first and I went to the one a week later ]and he was packed, having put on a mini bus for his customers, and he wasn't as slack as implied the rest of the time.

Why was it 'embarassing' and to whom?

All three tavernas at Agni give visitors an excellant choice of differing Greek menus and styles and complement one another very well, so please dont turn this post into comparisons of which is best.I just felt that Ritchies comments were a bit exaggerated and wanted to balance the view.lol.

Hi,

I too have met Nathan, back in 2000, before I knew what a website was.  I was on my honeymoon and with some friends we had made in Kalami, where we were staying decided to take an amble over to Agni.  The taverna was quite quiet and the four of us were having trouble deciding what to eat, when Nathan came over and suggested we try a little bit of everything and so brought  out a 'huge' plate of food which we proceeded to share, absolutely fantastic.  We were made to feel so welcome and have visited regularly since as a result of that first time.

Marvellous place, friendly hardworking staff and gorgeous food.

Jackie
