Hi you resident Corfiots - I would really be interested to hear if anyone has any pics of Agni as it was a few years ago - perhaps some were taken before the road was cut through?  Are there any about?  It would be fun to see how much it has changed over the years... or has this question been asked, and dealt with before on the site?  I have some I took around 15 years ago, but I'm sure there must be earlier ones about.

I have one that I took in 1973 from the sea but it only shows the taverna on the left (I don't think I can use its name!!).

The interesting photo, that I also took at the same time is of Kaminaki, which shows it as a small sleepy fishing village.

Regards.

Hi Peter - can you post it here?  I think it would be interesting for others, not only me!

I'll dig it out and see what I can do. May just have to scan and upload it.

Regards.

If you mean Taverna Nikolas Peter it's not a problem.  I think many of us would like to see the photo if possible.

That's great Peter.  I presume you will have to upload it to the site's photo section.

I remember when the taverna in the middle first opened and their jetty consisted of 2 huge blocks of polystyreen lashed together with some wooden pallets on top to walk on.

At that time neither of the other tavernas had any frontage other than their buildings, together with some rush matting outside for shade.

Those were the good old days, all surplys had to come by water, no small feat when you consider the overall weight of water, beer, wine, vegetables etc;

Bob.

The good old days? - but its still far quicker to Corfu Town by boat than by car.

Life by boat must have been far more civilised without stinky traffic and beastly EC roads (which is probably why Bob lives up a mountain when not sailing?).   Ag Steph is now getting to look like an "executive development", and I fear Agni may follow. Oh for a cove and taverna thoroughly inaccessible by road! (I don't want to move to the Lycian Coast, learning Greek was hard enough)

Jeremy (the other one)
