Email anti spam system

As you may know, putting your email address into a post may result in unwanted spam. Basically there are 'spammers' who search the web for email addresses using automated systems to 'harvest' the email addresses from message forums. This site does everything possible to prevent this happening to you and we have a system that replaces the email with extra letters to prevent this. I have now updated/improved the system as follows, where I enter my email address normally:

nathan(replace with an 'at')agni.gr

Notice that the address is changed so that an automated system will miss it, but an interested human will be able to recognise and use the email.

Hope this new method is with your approval and will help in reducing some of the problems that the previous system caused.

With your interests at heart,

best regards,

The Agni Site Team

Nathan

PS Stuart, please test and let me know what you think

Let me get this straight, Nathan - if we type an email address in the format: me (replace with an 'at') blah.com

the site will automatically change it to:

me(replace with an 'at')blah.com

Becky

I have just tried a test post on the Greek Life forum.

I typed in a ficticious email address using the usual "at" symbol that is used for email addresses and it came out as email(replace with an 'at')test.com

The idea is to stop the "at" symbol being repeated ad nauseum when it appears in a post and reducing the confusion for newer members, who may not have read the explanation for why it happens.

Thanks Stuart, I thought that's what Nathan meant - I think I've got my stupid head on again tonight!

What a cunning idea, should make things much neater! Another great innovation Nathan.

Thanks Nathan, at last, no more (replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at')(replace with an 'at').

A much better idea altogether.

Yammas, Chris

tester123replace with an at tester.com
