Hi D&T.

Firstly welcome to the Corfu Travel Guide. We hope you can gather all the information you need in reference to your holiday for next year.

I am not a visitor to Kalami, but a bit further down the coast, however, there are many who visit Kalami, including another Trace and Dave, who actually on holiday at this time.

I am sure you will find lots of information in this forum, as well as looking at the many pages on this site. Other members with more information will reply to your post in due course. In the meantime I have placed a link below for you to browse on Kalami.

Yammas, Chris.

Hi Chris...................The pics in the link look fantastic.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Most of the reviews i've read so far seem to be from people staying in apartments,we however are staying in a villa overlooking the bay.It says that it's only a short walk into town but judging by those pics it looks mostly up and down hill

What villa are you staying in, perhaps I can find some information on its location to the town. That part of Corfu, as you have already seen is quite hilly, and a lot of the accommodations are on separate levels, as far as apartments and hotels go.

You will have a great time there whatever. You are not too far away from the infamous Taverna Agni, a boat ride around the bay.

Anyway, let us know your location, and I will see what I can find.

Yammas, Chris.

we're going to be staying at "Villa Mary lou".

it's run buy Villaplus,if thats any help.Looks ok in the brochure but first hand experiances are always more helpful.

I'm intriqued by the "infamous Taverna Agni" our party of 6 has been known to have the odd drink.

Hi Dave & Trace.

Here are some more links, the first two being from other members on their visits and stays I believe at the Villa Mary Lou in Kalami. The last link is of the Mary Lou itself.

The Taverna Agni, situated in the Agni Bay area is run by Nathan who also is the webmaster for the Corfu Travel Guide. It has become infamous because of its location, its fabulous food, and customer service. Many members go to the Taverna Agni on their visits to Corfu, from all over the island. It is well recommended. The 4th link shows a map of your location and where the Taverna Agni is situated. You will also see that it is possible to get a fast boat taxi from Kalami to the Taverna.

I hope this gives you more information in answer to your question. If you need anymore help, please just ask.

Yammas, Chris.

Hi, villa Mary Lou has some private steps - (I would say approx 70 steps)down to the 'main road' into kalami, then you have a short five minute walk down a gentle slopping road into centre of kalami.

Have not stayed in Mary lou but have stayed in a villa above it and one next door but one - the views are fantastic.

When are you going, have recently returned from kalami and some of the lights on the road were out and it was pitch black - glad we had the torch.

<FONT face="Times New Roman, Times, serif" color=orange size=3>Hi Dave and Trace

<FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffa500 size=3>We will be in Kalami at the end of May 2006. It will be our second visit after spending our honeymoon week there in August of this year. Our only regret about Kalami is not discovering it sooner! It is a lovely place. Just big enough not to be too small, and just small enough not to be too big!! If that makes sense?

<FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffa500 size=3>The beach is fantastic - shingle rather than sand, so you don't end up looking like a fish finger after lying down covered in sun oil!! The water is crystal clear, warm, and teeming with small fish - most of which i can't identify (which is a bit embarrassing for an ex marine biologist!).

<FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffa500 size=3>Most accommodation is lovely. Restaurants are consistently great. Boat hire is reasonable, and definitely opens up extra options for seeing the area from the water and travelling quickly and safely between villages, towns and bays. Thoroughly recommended!

<FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffa500 size=3>We can't wait to get back. We are taking the kids with us in May. Kalami seems ideal for kids too, although older teenagers may find it a little on the quiet side... depends what they are used to I guess.

<FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#ffa500 size=3>Anyway, I have no doubt that you will really enjoy yourselves. Our paths may even cross out there!

Sorry..... also just to add!

THe supermarkets are fantastic in Kalami too. Not only can you pick up lots of Greek and Corfiot specialities, but they stock huge ranges of Brit comfort items so that even the most fussy traveller will be able to eat just like they do at home! Although why they would wish to do so with such quality local provisions available is beyond me! You know what kids are like sometimes though!

Also, if you hire a boat, shopping in Kassiopi is a good plan. The prices are lower and the choice even better.... your choice. Cost of living seems pretty good on Corfu, whether you eat out or self-cater.
