Arrived back from Corfu on Friday 1st July having had the best trip yet.

The weather was fantastic...not one cloudy day for the whole fortnight, clear skies and soaring temperatures prevailed.

We stayed in a villa in Sinies, a small hamlet just above Ag Stephanos, NE coast. The villa was great - had everything we needed and more. Lovely pool, private and extensive gardens and panoramic views to die for.

Our villa did not have air-con, but we had booked a portable unit through 'Easy-Breeze'. Jenny and Tony were waiting at our accomodation to install it and offer instructions for its operation. What a lovely couple, very friendly and down to earth. We wouldn't have survived the heat without it, particularly in terms of a comfortable nights' sleep. They are to be highly recommended in our opinion.

Highlight of the holiday had to be our seaplane trip over to Paxos - a fantastic experience. We promptly hired a boat in Gaios and managed to travel all around the island - stopping off in Loggos and Lakka for much needed repast! Flight was quick, comfy and thrilling - offering great views over both Corfu and Paxos. [seaplane cost 50 euros per person]

Managed a trip to Ericoussa, departing by boat from Sidari. We had a lovely relaxing beach day there. [Booked at Value-Plus in Sidari 15 euros each]

We ate at all the tavernas in Ag. Stepahnos and Agni and in addition, the lovely taverna on the beach at Kerasia. Great food, fantastic hospitality and a wonderful atmosphere in all these establishments.

Went into Corfu town a couple of times...unusually quiet. Last saturday night some shops were closing just after 10pm! In fact we found Corfu overall much quiter than normal. We were speaking to a couple of people about this who acknowledged that the season had got off to a very slow start...hopefully things will start to pick up during July and August.

Mossies...despite taking Vit B, using repellant, using plug-ins and coils we still managed to be bitten on a couple of occasions...but not as bad as during previous trips.

Plenty of other beasties about...wasps - not too much of a problem yet. Crickets - range in size..some can be huge. Hubby had to remove a couple from our bedroom before settling! Managed to see a couple of snakes also, but they slithered away from us very quickly - I hasten to add we did not feel threatened at all on these occasions. Addtionally, saw plenty of tortoise roaming around...are these indiginous to Corfu?

Returned to [ by comparison] a very cold, wet and windy Isle of lewis yesterday - no summer here yet. Back to work  monday [boo-hoo]. Already thinking about next year...will definitely be returning!

Will upload photos as soon as.

Sounds wonderful Bev, especially the seaplane to Paxos!

Hope you took some photos from the plane for us?

Hi Bevie,

So glad to read of your wonderful two weeks in Corfu. In particular your account of the AirSea trip to Paxos, and the actual cost of the trip. Like Trace has said, hope to see some good aerial shots of the islands.

Look forward to seeing the photos uploaded to the Gallery. Think of your next visit, it will soon come round.

Yammas.

Hi Bevie enjoyed your account of your holiday, we are going to a villa in sinies at the end of August,(Villa Anastasia, dont know if you saw it?) so would be interested to hear more about the area, any tips etc.

Also where did you book to go on the seaplane to Paxos, really like the sound of this trip?

Great to read you had a wonderful time. Surprised to hear Corfu Town was so quite. I looked into the seaplane trip last year…then thought it relatively new to try…the people that’s been on that trip have really enjoyed it…so maybe this year?

Anyway welcome back…pretty windy here today but the sun  out how’s Lewis..?

I’m off to Erskine to watch the children for 7 weeks…….God help me…why are these holidays soooooo long.

I wish more people would do a detail report of there holiday. I think.. you really get the true feel/impression of Corfu and what’s happening this year

Blimey makes me feel bad now as I hardly did anything for two weeks except for a couple fo drives.

As soon as I reach Nissaki I just jump in the pool, put my feet up and then read and drink.

Don't feel bad Paul, everybody has their own preference of what makes a holiday for them.

You've paid your hard earned money, so you can make your own choice.

We like a bit of both...........laziness and adventure

...lol but Paul that’s good, very refreshing to read holiday events. I class our site with having the most level headed people of any website that’s why I like most value their opinions views.

Tracy after 8 tonight I’ll feel like I’m going into prison but when I get there, I’ll be fine. Just put my head down and do the time… lol Get myself into child mode. For the life of me, I’ll never know why… they look so forward in my arrival? But after a few days they get board.O`h well I guess it's out with the bicycle

Last years project was Christine Shaw of Erskine/Paisley …that quickly followed by a letter from their teacher about the project…( must say she was impressed) need to find something else at the library for them.

I have also read about another interesting Character Elizabeth Montgomery from the Tudor times…that might interest them and all their pals….but really she was an absolute con women …she decided this night to impress the locals of her new village. By arranging a party (obviously looking for her next Victim which always turn out, with her, putting her Foot in it) where she severed Tea…Yip unsure how to make tea, she boiled it for 3 hour and served the tealeaves up with bread?

Ok I’m starting to feel a bit better…lol
