Yasas!
I just returned off a 3 week vacation, 2 of which were spent in Corfu. This was my first time to this part of the world, or as I like to refer to it as, THE REAL WORLD. You see… sometimes us Americans can be blind to what is beyond the borders of our 50 states. Affraid to travel without the comforts of home or off to a place where people might speak different languages. Growing up we are raised to think of America as the leaders of the free world, the super power! We stay confined to this bubble and pass up opportunities based on what we dont know about the rest of the world. I spent a week and a half traveling through Europe on the most amazing rail system ever built, made my way across 5 countries, sailed to 15 ports in the Ionian Islands and met the most amazing people in Greece. In this short amount of time I felt more free than ever. I realized how young my country is and in someways how far behind the rest of the world we are. I look forward to the day I set foot back on the Island of Corfu. It has changed my life and the way I view the world around me.

Yasas!

Wow, reading your post has given me goosebumps!

That was so moving, and very honest.

I'm so glad that you feel you've experienced the "real world" as you call it, and have taken so much from your visit.

I hope you get the chance to experience that freedom you talk of again very soon!

Enjoy your new found outlook on your life and the world around you

It's always nice to get such an honest opinion from someone from another country.

It would be really nice to hear a bit more about your adventure, and in particular what you saw on Corfu, and what you thought about it.

Hi Cloud

Very glad to hear that you had such a good time and thank you for your, obviously, heartfelt views on Europe and Greece in particular. It really is quite gratifying to hear someone from "the land of the free" to feel even more free over here!

To echo Pete's comments above, I would really like to hear a lilttle more about what you have seen and where you went. In particular, your sailing experiences are of interest to me as I often sail around the Ionian and have found it to be a wonderful adventure, with a different bay or harbour every night.

Hoping to hear a little more

Martyn

Hi Cloud

That was a beautiful post. The real challenge for you my friend, is when in times of stress or when the vulgarities of life get you down ,to remember your words and the way you feel now and know in your heart that somewhere out there is a little island that holds your footprints. It will draw you back as it has for me and my family for 20 years. May you always feel so blessed.

Hi Cloud,

For personal reasons, it is a sad day for me today, but logging on this morning and reading your post has brought a big smile back to my face, reading of your happy thoughts on your trip around Europe and in particular Greece and Corfu.

I look forward to hearing more from you with regards to your trip to Corfu.

Yammas.
