Just got back from St George South and its really quiet, all the locals are talking about it. Since the collapse of one tour operator, there are no major tour operators going there, with the exception of Thomsons, and several Scandinavian Tour Operators, why? It seems most are up north. This is a lovely little resort and needs the holiday people too continue to keep going. We have been going there for many years now and it seems to be the neglected resort in Corfu. Does anyone know why? Apart from this we had a wonderfull time and it was great too see all our Greek friends again. Cannot wait for September to see them again.

Home is where the heart is

st george seems to be the forgotten resort,

try  find the resort in  holiday broachers.... you cant...

its only recently st george has been put on tourest maps.

go into a uk travel agency as about st. george south and they look at you as if you are stuopid.

about time tour operators started look at this beautiful resort again.. it never used to be like this.

its almost like a goast town now with so many empty appartments.

YEP  YOU DONT GO THROUGH THE RESORT ONLY THE MAIN ROAD AT THE TOP THAT LEADS TO THE VILLAGE OF AYRIGARDIS, THE RESORT IS ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD FROM THE SIGN THAT SAYS...

"WELCOME TO ST GEORGE CORFU'S SANDIEST BEACHES"

NEXT TIME YOUR PASSING..... DONT PASS POP DOWN,

YOU'LL LOVE IT.

We went there last september for a day out by scooter from Kontakali .

The beach is fabulous , it reminded me of the one near Dartmouth called Slapton sands , very steeply shelving and great for swimming .

We ordered a take out Kalimari , bread ,olives and salad from the little taverna on the beach . The taverna was run by mother and daughter , they could not do enough to please us and so cheap as well .

Will definately return one day .

PurryPuss, It's very difficult to know which one people are talking about. Ag. Goeorgios North is OK as there seems only to be one of them (Near Arilas) but when you talk South then it's more difficult. There is Ag. Gordis (which is near to Sinaradies and has the little island sticking up, and then there is Ag. Georgios (which is off the road to Kavos) and there is also a place called Ag. Gordis which is straight across the island from Kavos (only a couple of miles away)

I have noticed that a couple of people have mentioned the one near to Sinaradies as St. Georges south which kind of confuses me.

just to put the book straight..

st george south, ag georgios, aghios georgios, argyrades, issos beach, is all the same place situated off the corfu town to kavos road abot 32 kms from corfu town on the south west coast.

please dont confuse with st. george north they are very different.

WITH THE COLLAPSE OF A  TOUR COMPANY LAST YEAR... has it really affected the whole island, or is it just st.george south thats been left with lots of empty studios
