Just got back on Saturday. Going out from Doncaster with a party of 4 we were 3 Kilos over, even though 2 of us had no hand luggage, no problem, paid our 15 quid and off we went.

Return journey with extra bag full of 6k fags no problem, no excess, moral is English airports are greedy, Corfu airport is far too busy to have time to weigh them

Hmm! Driving to Corfu, no weight limits (only car loading limit) no weighing in, bring back your gifts and booze, no airport crushes or taxis, no problem!

happy days

This has always amazed me for the last few years we have taken all manner of things on the uk to corfu leg of our journey and so far have not had a problem we always aim to be on or just below our 20kilo limit this year we had a suit case each total weight 30 kilos and 2 seperate boxes of plastic wallblocks(they look like the glass blocks that that you often see built like a wall so our total weight was 43 kilos we wernt charged any excess the previous year we had a total of 42 kilos 2 suitcases plus a shower tray and electric instant shower unit again no excess charges the previous year going via gatwick we had 2 suitcases plus a workmate bench plus power tools. The only time ive ever had a comment about our luggage was when we bought back 2 of those large 4 litre metaxa bottles on stands and that was at the checkin desk the rep standing close by said we must be planning a great christmas and at the xray machine where the greek security gaurd carried the bottles round the scanner. on the plan the stewardess even moved peoples bags in the over head lockers so our bottles would fit. by the way has anyone ever seen the scales at corfu airport working

Hi Tony and Kandy

I'm with you on this one! Mind you, I'm stuggling to find space for my stuff on the bike (lol).

Maybe see you in Kassiopi.

Trace as you know, normal luggage allowance is 20kg if booked in advance, late deals only allow 15kg, the security labels are now attached by the security staff at the airport as im sure you are now also aware, and on our way home on the 21st May the weigh scales were working at Corfu airport!

...Hi ya...I dont mean to be personal in any way...As to regards to Elton has said the clothes on your back..If they are that concerned about the waigh the next thing that they will hit you with is how hevey are you..I am of normal build..IE 12 and half stone...one year flying to zanty i had  a person sat next to me that must have been(X amount) and at to have an exstention to his seat belt....I did not mine as the person could not help his problem..But it is up to the airlines to provide the extra room and make the passenger more comfortable and not keep hitting us with excess baggage all the time..besause they do not think of the average build person being a lot bigger do they.....Just a thought..chris

Chris, would you believe me if I told you that is actually an option one of the budget airlines has been considering.......one for the future perhaps!

The idea would be for all passengers to be weighed with their bags (not sure if that mean't hand luggage only, or checked in baggage).

I'd read this somewhere recently, and will see if I can find it again for you.
