SInce the weather is a bit rough in the UK at the moment.  I thought I'd pose a question about the summer.

Forget that it's winter at the moment on Corfu (albeit probably better than the UK).  Take a moment to think what you might be doing at the time you post your message if you were in Corfu at that particular time.  Swimming, eating, having a quick drink etc. etc.  Let's bring some cheer into the winter.

Me - it's 16:20 in the UK so 18:20 on Corfu.  I would be just packing my things up from the beach, taking a stoll to my apartment looking forward to a shower, dressing up and going out for a long, boozy dinner.  Probably followed by an early night in preparation for a packed day tomorrow.

Kev

Its raining and windy here in Northampton, not to mention dark.

But if we were in Corfu I would be in apartment gettin myself and kids ready for a night in Sidari- going out for a meal and then to one of our favourite bars, where we have met many friends in our 6 years of holidaying there. Each year its almost like we just start where we left off . Cant wait.

Only 169 days til it becomes real

Cool question Kev! Don't know if it cheers you up or depresses you even more though

Nearly 7pm in Corfu now, so seeing as we usually travel out of season in May and October, we'll be back from a nice days walking (OK taverna crawl) and already be washed and changed. I'm thinking Kalami for this one, so we'll either be heading for the jetty to get one of the water taxis round to Agni Bay for dinner or we'll be sitting out on our balcony (in fleeces) having a wee beer or two before going for dinner in the village.

If I close my eyes I can hear the cicadas........and feel the mozzies!!

Heaven XX

Kev,

Its also raining here in Cornwall, and windy, but not quite dark[as we are about 30 mins behind rest of country]

If we were lucky enough to be in Corfu,we would also be getting ready to go out for our evening meal, and having a drink on our balcony whilst waiting for the rest of the family. Then down to Thomas's Taverna for the evening, Its great because our young son can play safely with the other children on the beach if he gets fed up,and we can still watch him.whilst we chat and linger  OHHH I cant wait, and Thomas's onion rings, say no more..... at this time we would be getting ready for a pre-dinner drink, problably with friends we've met the years before or friends we've just met.

After a few drinks, maybe with John and Tricia, we would discuss where to have our dinner. It's sunday so I think I will have a nice dinner at Sebastians and I think I will make it a light dinner 'cause we're planning to go to Agni tomorrow where I would have all my favorite dishes (drunken mussels, seafood spaghetti or prawn saganaki and of course for dessert Eleni's lemon yoghurt).

Besides that, we have already had birthday cake cause one of our friends is having her birthday.

Well, it is 9.20am here and 10 hours on in Corfu 7.20pm

Pouring with rain here and has been since before Christmas!

Saw some Brits on their hols last week having coffee in Starbucks and they were so British... all the locals were in fleeces, thick warm clothes, and bless them there was this family in their summer holiday clothes drinking iced coffees and fruit iced smoothies, you could almost see the Marks and Sparks labels on their clothes still with the creases on them....

I felt so bad for them as at this time of year here it is possible to be in the 80'f!

Anyway if I was in Corfu at 7pm would be in Kassiopi walking down for a pre dinner dinner drink in the harbour, then dinner at one of the local tavernas, all the ones I used to go to are probably called different names now!

But wait,.... I now have 2 sons and am expecting # 3 so change that to waddling down the road clutching my sons by the hands because of passing traffic, looking for a place that serves chicken in some kind of breadcrumb with sliced tomatoes for my youngest and looking longingly at all the cocktails while consuming a virgin pina colada..... then eating my dinner and finishing off everyone elses in reach of me....

not being able to get into my swinsuit let alone a bikini, wearing elephant sized shorts....

oh well, would be happy just to be there, but maybe next year will be a better idea!

Okay - it can be a bit depressing but don't you just loose yourself when you are typing the post.

Thinking about being there.  Thinking about friends you meet year after year.  Thinking about lovely food.  Thinking about the sun.  Feeling the heat of the sun and the cool lapping of waves on your feet.  Enjoying the fabulous, UNIQUE Greek hospitality....................

It took me a few seconds to type the above but I REALLY did loose myself in it.  Try it - it's great and brings back lovely memories.

But remember - it won't be long until the summer hols are here !

Kev

I can see myself sitting on terrace of our bungalow, well not my bungalow but it feels like it when im there. And like you said  I really lost myself and felt like I was there I could  see all our friends we have made there in restaurants and bars. It felt real but the sad thing is it comes and goes so quick when we are there, I can also feel that sad feeling I get when I have to come home
