Think sometimes the cheaper deals are available later in the year. We were looking just after Christmas - both on-line and in travel agents and the prices were way above what we had paid previously.
We looked again just a few weeks ago and managed to get a good deal via our local travel agent through Olympic for August 17th - cheaper even than the web prices which I'd printed off and taken with us to see if they could do better (and they did!)

After holidaying in Corfu for the best part of 20 years, n icluding the last 5 years. This year went to Lefkas for the first time, the scenery lovely and the biggest surprise was the difference in the cost of eating out as compared to Corfu, We were spending on average a third less for our meals including a litre of wine, over 2 weeks this was quite a lot.
Will be back to Corfu but someone there need to get their act together, or things will not look good for the future.

Recently booked a flight to Corfu from Bournemouth £64.50. Return £56.00 CFU-LGW. 8th to 13th June. It would of been cheaper if I'd of gone for a 7 or 14 night duration
When I worked for the 2nd largest tour operator in the UK, traditionally prices are kept high when holidays first go on sale until after the peak booking period. 8 weeks prior to departure it goes on supply and demand so they can go up or down, particularly with "deal holidays"

Please look at the post entitled '2010' to see how cheaply you can buy an holiday for next year if you want. Please don't be a doom-monger - bad news spreads very quickly and some people just take it as the truth rather than doing their own research and discovering what is actually available.
