I always find that my feet swell slightly on planes. Whilst I try to dress in cool, loose clothes, it is always my feet which let me down. I remember arriving once at Athens Aiport during a heat wave. I had kicked my shoes off in the plane and had to walk into the airport bare-foot. The tarmac was boiling hot (but still solid) which did not help my feet. When I eventually retrieved my suitcase and walked through to be met by my beloved boyfriend I was still bare-foot. We walked out of arrivals to find a taxi whereupon both my suitcase and bare feet sank into the melting tarmac outside! Not a very romantic way to meet with your dearly beloved after several months apart! Both I and my suitcase were firmly stuck.

How embarrassing Lavinia! I'm sorely tempted just to sling on an old pair of crocs for comfort, but not sure if I can put up with the indignity of them whilst travelling!!! Great for round the pool but I don't know about anywhere else.
Actually, I've just conjured up a vision of me in two weeks time...black tomatoe sauce/coffee-resistant travel ensemble and white crocs; look out at Gatwick and Corfu for me, people, it'll give you something to laugh about while you wait for your delayed flight!!!!
Almost as good as last year when the Kavos posse were wearing pink tutus (and they were all male!)

I learned the hard way never to wear white when travelling......we were about to board our plane to Fuerteventura a few years ago......about 5 sh in the evening......problem at Manchester and just as we were at the gate the plane was delayed...so we were told to hang around airport. Then we were moved to another terminal where we had to sit on dirty floor! Then at 10pm we were moved to Hilton airport hotel........with all our luggage on the plane. Had to wash smalls through and dry them best I could and wear same white linen trousers for the whole of the next day......
Now I wear crop jeans.....dark patterned top AND I ALWAYS PACK A SPARE PAIR OF KNICKS IN MY HAND LUGGAGE LOL!!!!
So these days I arrive looking reasonably ok....I take advantage of the small amounts of liquids allowed on the plane and apply a little lippy as we land, run a brush through my hair when we are in the arrivals hall......and hey presto....that's as good as it gets LOL
