has anyone read 'the greek for love' by james chatto? Excellent read, very moving about life, love and loss in corfu. Thoroughly recommend it!

I agree! I read it last year before we went out to Corfu, was really in the "Corfu/Greek book mood " then - also read "It's all Greek to me", "His rough magic", "Prospero's Cell", "Greek walls" "Corfu Sunset," and Gerald Durrell's Corfu trilogy" whilst we were out there!

Would recommend all of these to Corfu lovers. Bought James Chatto's "Kitchen in Corfu" but can't seem to get into it yet - maybe by next Summer I'll be ready to read it from cover to cover!

JB --did you read all them in 2 weeks?? Written them down because when I'm in a book shop I always forget and just opt for Jodi piccoult, who I also enjoy reading. At least my husband knows what to get me for Christmas now!
Nikita, it gives a website on the back of this book www.madaboutbooks.com and if I wasn't starting to stock books for when we come to live in Acharavi in a few years time I would of sent it to you!

No! I read the three Durrell ones in a fortnight, the others just whetted my appetite in the weeks before my holiday! I do read loads on holiday though, I read a couple of Agatha Christies and a Ruth Rendell whilst in Corfu too, and listened to two Frances Durbridges on my i-pod!

I've had 'The Greek for Love' for a while but not read it yet because I haven't finished  'A Kitchen on Corfu' and I thought that came first.  As 'Kitchen' is not an ongoing story as such I tend to read a chapter or two then go back to novels for a while.  Is it not necessary to read  'Kitchen' before reading 'The Greek for Love'?

Dee Dee, I don't know which comes first, but he refers to researching for 'kitchen in corfu' whilst writing this one. I don't think it really matters? other readers might correct me there. ha ha

Dee Dee, I don't think you need to read "A Kitchen in Corfu" first - I read "The Greek for Love" first which is a great read and also gives you the background to who everyone is in "A Kitchen in Corfu" and how James & Wendy came to be there.  Have to admit that I did skip most of the recipes/technical stuff as it can be a bit heavy going!
