Just got 1.404 euros to the pound from the local Post Office. Not a bad rate and no commission, Happy days, Stevie.

Glad you're happy Stevie - however, if you use a Nationwide debit card in an ATM abroad, you will get 1.48% without charges or commission!

Don't forget people are having problems with the nationwide flex account and Visa cards in general in certain resorts, So take a back up, Stevie.

Hi Stevie

Can you say what type of problems they are having please. We are going to Thassos in 10 days time and will be relying on Nationwide Flex.

Thanks, Yiamass,

Jean

Hi Stevie and razaker.

Just seen a thread about the Flex account problems on the section relating to Agios Gordis. Seems some of the older ATMs perhaps cannot cope with some of the new security on the newer cards. Hopefully they will get it sorted soon. There are plenty of people who have had no problems whatsoever until recently so maybe the ATMs need updating.

Happy holidays, Yiamass,

Jean

Hi!

I've just applied for my Nationwide card, but there have been threads on this site warning of problems recently. I will still get some Euros from the Post Office before I go.

The moral of this story - always have a back-up just in case.

David

It was something Ele said on her return from Agios Gordios. I think they are having a problem as Selebian has mentioned.

Ele's Post was ;

BEWARE! have just returned this pm. Specifically opened a nationwide flex account for our holiday. The card wouldn't work in the main street in Ag. Gordios. My son and also brother have flex accounts and there's wouldn't work either!!! We had to drive into Corfu town to an ATM there. Would have been scuppered otherwise! Ele.

Just check before you go i would hate for you to run out of money for a better currency rate. But you are right Richie the Nationwide Flex is the best one out there.

I usually take euros, pounds and a switch card. it's a risk carrying cash but i have always done it, Good Luck, Stevie.

There does seem to be a problem in Aghios Gordios as has been reported on this site. However, no-one has reported any problems using their Nationwide Flex card or Visa card in any other part of the island.   As far as we know there is no problem in any other resort or in Corfu town.
