We use play.com all the while for books, DVDs and CDs. Delivery is free and usually very quick. We only order one or two at a time and they have always been delivered by the postie rather than a courier. But I guess it may depend on where you live.

Thanks Nickos - I'll certainly give them a try this week and order the books that I cancelled from Amazon.  The Royal Mail has many faults but it beats these tin-pot couriers hands down!

Thumbs up to Play.com the papas book arrived in record time and no charge for delivery as you said.

I have been buying books from Amazon for years now but  I know what you mean about the change to the courier delivery service.

My last order came when I was at work and I arrived home to find a note through the door saying they would try again the next day unless I phoned the number overleaf to rearrange. I would have been at work then too but guess what, NO number was overleaf. Luckily my neighbour saw them and took it in.

It used to be the postie and I much prefer it that way.

Thanks for that info Viv, its reassuring.   Raine, if you ever do need to phone those couriers, and they do leave a number,  be prepared for a long wait on the line, unless you phone late in the evening.  Even then you'll think you're talking to a brick wall!
