Hi Chris,

Difficult one! In Holland more and more people like the all-inclusive thing. As tourism is dropping (at least from what i've heard) maybe it is a good thing. But for the people who own restaurants and pubs etc. it may mean even less peolpe in their establishments as people tend to stay at their resorts. I like the experience of having different meals at the different restaurants during my holiday and could never go all-inclusive no matter how cheap it is. I'd rather save my money a bit longer and then do as i always do. Get the full experience.

I'm with Helen in this one. One hotel is much like any other, so you are denying yourself a rich cultural experience by going all-inclusive. Anyway, at that price, even the hotel can't be making much money....

Yes I agree with you Helen as to when we go to Corfu And other Greek islands we stay self catering and eat out as you do...But as i am of to Mexico in June we do Stay all inclusive....I do suppose it will benefit family's with a budget to go a all inclusive...providing they get out an explore the island and to its wonders and put money back into the community...chris

I have been all - inclusive in Majorca, with having two kids thought it would be a good idea then if they want drinks ice-creams etc. they can just go get them , how wrong was I. We ended up having to go out for dinner a couple of times during the week because there was nothing any of us liked in the restaurant, so i now prefer to go self - catering and then at least that way you have a choice of all the tavernas and restaurants and the most important thing i find it is freshly cooked not sat on a hot plate for goodness knows how long.

So in the long run it ended up eating into our spending money just so we didnt go hungry, and it had cost a lot more to start off with.

DEFINATELY NOT CHRIS

Thats a joke of a price, and will serve to attract just one type of client - I am not going to get drawn in on this, because I might just say too much - but I think we already know the answer.

I am not a snob, and I have nothing against budget holidays - If you can save money travelling to a holiday island and rent inexpensive accomodation then you are surely going to have more money to spend sampling the delights of the resort - and thats the way it should be - but AIs in a place like Corfu are a nonsense - they dont really benefit the local enonomy - turn quiet beaches into crowded ones - and just ruin its all for everyone else.

Its also true that in some holiday locations, the only way to protect visitors is to basically confine them to the hotel complex itself.....

Fortunately, Corfu isn't one of them!

I guess for families on a budget it might be the only thing they can afford. But then you have got to wonder if they are going to spend much outside the resort. I'm curious what the local people think about this. This one guy i know had appartments in Kommeno and was complaining that is was too quiet because of the all inclusive holidays people go on in Turkey.

This hotel has been offering all inclusive for several years now, always at low prices.  I remember them from TV Travel Shop.
