it was lovely - i had a lump in my throat, wishing i was there!  i know thats the metaxa, and its cold in corfu now, but hey, its the whole thing that gets us going isn't it!

wonder where the various villas were - what about the 'port'?  definately not corfu town!

i recognised 'agni house' in the background of the shot with spiro being 'seasick'!

all in all, a lovely production!

Hi all,

Very funny, when i realised Amelda Staunton was in it i knew it was going to be good. With scepticism Connor, my son (who's 13) decided to watch a period drama for the 1st time. He didn't leave his seat 'til the end.

oh well looking out the window now wacthing the snow fall here in Nottm (nice that it is) wishing we were in Corfu. roll on June

Regards

Laz

Yes, it was very good and Imelda Staunton was very convincing as Mother, but I'm afraid I still like the 1987 BBC series better.  It's so difficult to condense the whole book into 90 minutes.  But at least it was Corfu, and what better to look at Corfu when the snow is chucking down here in East Anglia!

A well presented and funny programme, everyone played their parts well. I thought Spiros was brilliant, as was the young lad playing Gerald Durrell. I did smile somewhat when they were at a beach, and Steven Durrell said something like, does it remind you of Bournemouth, (where they came from). I live in Bournemouth, and I dont think so.

The Port, was it not the smaller one in Corfu Town where the Vidos Ferry runs from, or a long that way.

I am sure for those who ask, the filming was done in and around Agni Bay, Kalami Bay etc.

Anyway, a very good programme.

Yammas, Chris.

PS: Widdle and Puke were lovely too. Watching the programme on Jersey Zoo and Gerald Durrell now.

It was lovely, and very true to the book; a delight to watch from start to finish. Some very definite shots of Yialiskari Bay (where they had their picnics and swimming and launched the Bootle Bumtrinket). It was all very nostalgic.

Absolutely brilliant !!

Most of the beach scenes were at Yaliscari bay [ the small one next to Agni ]

The scene where they had the table in the water was the bay next to Rothschilds [ I know because it is close to our plot ].There were shots over the Ropa valley I recognised........But , I couldn't recognise the port scene on their departure , perhaps Brian is right in saying Corfu town , but I suspected it could have been Paxos .

The yellow villa is definately on the kanoni peninsular next to the airport and I think the white villa is near to Barbati .

I'll stand corrected if anyone else knows for sure .........Can't wait for next May now !!!

Regards............J&H

PS: Loved the part Spiros Americanos played
