Has anyone stayed in a villa in these areas ? The ones I have seen so far are overlooking the bays below, which is lovely; but I was just wondering what it could be like for getting to and fro to the tavernas below and maybe also using the water taxis. Getting back up at night ? would a car be essential. On our recent trip to Kalami we walked all the headlands which took us to many bays and coves; but I can't remember tracks leading upwards.

Any information would be apreciated, as the next step would be to check for flights only. Thanks.

What villas have you been looking at? there are quite a few around Kalami that you could easily walk to in the evenings after a meal but also many more where a car might be useful or necessary. What size are you looking for and do you want a pool or not. There are a few properties in Agni Bay itself, not villa's but very nice, we stayed in Olga's Cottage and really loved it.

I assume you have checked out Agni Travel. I think you have to decide if being able to walk back from a taverna is a priority or not, and make your selection from there. I'm sure there are many members who can recommend particular properties if you can be a bit more specific.

Happy hunting

Yvonne

We stayed at the Bakers House Upper at Loustri, this is a short, if steep walk from Agni.
We could not fault it, brilliant views from all of the balconies and loads of room.
Only thing was, the beds, which were new we think, were VERY hard.
Other than that, lovely.
Best to have a car to get to sandy beaches though.

Anna Jane,

You certainly wouldn't have any problems getting home if you stayed in one of these villas.......all are either in, or very close to Kalami itself!

Thank-you Trace, you have really helped. I shall wait fo husband to return (safely I hope) from London, so we can discuss what to do next.

Hi Anna

I have stayed at a few of the Villas around the area.  There are several on the headland the opposite side to the White House and I would say that these are all walkable into Kalami.  There are steps down the side of Anastasia where I have stayed in the past  which lead down to the road, It is a pleasant walk down to the bay, though the steps back up wore me out after a few drinks! I would imagine that those staying at Kouloura or Kalami Bayview and the other villas begind Myra & Anastasia would/could use these the steps down to the road too, but I am pretty sure that there is a track too... failing that the road is not too long!  My only personal concern is that most of these villas are operated by Thomsons.

I am pretty sure both Meon and CV have a couple of others in the immediate area that would probably be walkable too.

Slightly further away, overlooking the bay is Villa Emilios (Agni Travel)which we have only recently returned from... this Villa is stunning and the views are amazing, the web site although showing spectacular pictures just does not do the villa justice.  The drive into Kalami is no more than 10 mins.  I believe that there is a track down the side of Villa Nikos but it is about 45 minutes, and probably longer coming back up.  There are other villas in that general direction (Vigla/Vingla) such as Rastoni whic also offer wonderful views, or at least did when I stayed there a few years ago.  I would say that a car is essential for these villas

Whenever we wanted to go to Agni we took the car down to Kalami and got the water taxis around to the bay, it it a much easier way than driving round, and more pleasant too!

regards

Chris

Villa Saranda from Agni Travel is the perfect solution. Overlooking Yaliskari Bay, 5 minutes to the secluded beach, 10/15minutes walk to Kalami, 5/10 minutes walk to Agni
