Hi Chris,

As regards the english ferries, I decided to go Dover to Dunkirk (£89 return) as it saved a lot compared to the Harwich to Hook of Holland ($176 return) that I looked at first.

I will have to brave the German motorways in an effort to save on costs

As Martyn says, the Greek ferries have fixed prices per person and per car just dependant on the season. For low season, I have paid £240. That is a return for me + my car, and a single for my friend (We are roughing it on the Airline seats). You also get the 30% discount on the return journey, as long as you book it all together.

I'll have a chat with you about it at the greek night in Huddersfield if you are still coming?

Debbi

Hi Martyn,

The site you are referring to for the hotels on route is www.accor.com (so without the d).

You are advising people of the maximum speed on the German motorway of being unlimited and some places 130 km/h. But please be advised that there is no insurance-coverage whenever involved in an accident with speeds over 130. Also when having an accident at that speed will make you automatically the guilty party.

Another very good route to Italy is :

Germany :  Karlsruhe - Stuttgart - Ulm - Memmingen

Austria    :  Innsbruck - Brenner Pass

Italy        :  Modena - Venice or Ancona

Jan

My childhood friends husbands both hold HGV license .They’re planning to hire a Container and drive it to Corfu with my furniture if I need them too. So I would imagine that the road tolls and the ferries will be more expensive using this type of vehicle.

Can anyone tell me roughly the prices for a larger vehicle on the tolls and the Venice to Corfu Ferry?

I don’t expect this journey to be happening until 2006 but its so I’ll have a rough idea.

Thanks

Roseanne
