Also the 3 litre bottles that stood upside down in their own metal frame with a tap? We had to tie string around the box and take it home as hand luggage, because it wouldn't fit in the suitcase Not that I'm a big Metaxa fan or anything you understand

(Thinks - hmmmm, I'll just have a small shot before I go to bed then)

The flowery one is Grande Fine and below is from the website
METAXA Grande Fine is an extremely mature and well respected member of the METAXA family. Its distinctive ceramic bottle was inspired by ancient Greek designs originating from the island of Rhodes.

Within the bottle is a spirit whose distillates are up to 15 years old, the youngest being more than 8 years old. The silky-smooth taste carries hints of vanilla within the amber colour, balanced by the aroma of wood.

You will appreciate the superb quality of this premium spirit!

Tasting notes
Colour: amber

Aroma: fully aromatic, woody, well balanced

Taste: silky, ample, aged, with a slight touch ofvanilla

I still have my (now empty) flowery bottle that kept the Grande Fine in! Having read this post this morning I went out and bought 2 bottles (5 star) of Mettaxa. 7 star was on the shelf aswell but couldn't convince hubby to buy it!! His argument is that he mixes it with Cola Light so he wouldn't be able to tell the difference! hmph! (just buy it when he isn't with me!)

I went to our local supermarket on Friday to get a bottle in to get some practice for next week but they have stopped selling it!!
Time to change supermarkets.

Hi Elaine,

We've recently returned from our 6th visit to Corfu and returned with our 6th bottle of Metaxa in the white opaque bottle. We always pick one up in duty free and once emptied make a great keep sake of each holiday.

Yammas.
