Hi

Thanks Graham, I didn't know Agios Stefanos (N.E.) was also known as 'san' ....

Tour reps from Spain... Venetians from Italy .... Hippies putting a S. American laid back tilt on it (that's what I meant), let's wait and see...

I'll gladly share Portia, did the Venetians rule all of the ionian Islands in their period of expansion and consolidation do you know?

Hi As you will all have probably worked out by now I'm no prude but please could you who want to get all their kit off... so all their bits get tanned all over.... please do it on authorized beaches (police will come down heavy if somebody does make a complain to them) as I for one do not want anybody flapping their bits around in mine or my family's faces...As I'm sure they would not like us sitting on a beach that was solely set aside for the nudest with our clothes on

Bruce, I don't think there are any 'authorized' nudist beaches in Greece. As far as I am aware it is still illegal to go 'topless' there. However, so long as no one complains the police turn a blind eye so anyone wanting to go naked should always go to one of the areas that are known for this kind of activity. Topless seems to be fairly well accepted everywhere now.

The area on Issos Beach is not an official nudest beach. I had a walk down there (To look at the lake and dunes, not the nudes) and didn't see any naturists. We didn't go too far though just incase. We did see an awful lot of little jellyfish around in that area on the beach and in the shallow water so mind your bits if you do get them out.

Hi

I agree with Bruce

As a keen naturalist (not naturist) I often walk to places away from the main beach. On meeting people sunbathing nude I feel a little embarrassed (and I'm no prude either) as I pass by because I know what happens next. They  turn to look at me, a lone male wandering past them, as some sort of voyeur (I see it in their faces, I try not to look anywhere else apart from out to sea then I trip over a rock). That is not to mention the significant proportion of wierdos among the nude bathers. Again don't get me wrong, I like weirdos but the nude variety I somehow mistrust.

Just keep to the places recognised as nudy spots and that way everybody has a fair shot, you nudy bathers deserve no more rights than anybody else and must consider other peoples right to wander without undue stress.

Spot on Ian... nudy people do look at you as if your some sort of perv... Well the Ladies and Gentlemen that sunbath all over the rocks where I fish near Kassiopi do when I'm fishing among them...I know I could move alone a bit.... but It's a good spot for Mullet.

Ian:  In answer to your question about the Venetian Republic, yes, it pretty much ruled all of the Ionian Islands (all of the Seven Islands, as they were / are called) for a very long time, from about the 1200s to 1797, when Napoleon Bonaparte came along.

Hope this helps.
