Kavos is good for people who want to party and not sure a big family with younger children want this, but St George south is not too far from Kavos to visit sometimes.

I reckon Agios Stefanos (NW) might fit the bill. It's a family-friendly resort with a large sandy beach, some watersports and a good selection of tavernas and bars. Not noisy, not too crowded. Try www.san-stefano.gr - an independent travel agency - for accommodation. Or www.corfunet.com who have a block of 3 apartments and a lovely villa (though may already be booked up for August). The resort of Sidari, previously mentioned, is quite close if you fancy a change of scene. It really very much depends what you want from your holiday; different resorts suit different people! The resort/beach guide on this site is useful.
Enjoy Corfu!

All of those suggestions, Carla, and not one person mentioned Roda - just the place for a family with a good cross-section of bars, restaurants and entertainment. There is also loads of information about the village on the internet.

If you're on a tight budget I would say Sidari. When visiting there last year we couldn't believe how much more reasonable it was for food and drink than everywhere else on the island. It's not the most scenic of places on Corfu but it has something to offer every age group and the kids will love it. Wherever you decide to stay I'm sure you will have a great time!!

Hi carla I agree with Viv. San Stef. I like the south of the island, but last year stayed near St. George south and in San Stef and I reckon it was 15% cheaper to eat out at San Stef than the St. George area. All the resorts mentioned are all very good, but the north west for me is the most reasonable. have a brill holiday. lorac.
